Did I know a Angel?: Marik fell in love with Farera; that was why he betrayed the Shadow King halfway through the war and joined the Angels, turned away from evil. Because of this, his initially twisted and evil appearance became the image of a warrior of good. However, when Farera was killed, Marik fell back to evil, and his appearance became twisted again. Since then he has wallowed in his own misery, committing acts of evil while thinking of how Farera would hate what he has become.

Personality: Marik has a terrible self-image, and no self-esteem to speak of. Though he has been an enemy of all good things since the death of Farera, he does not believe in evil and hates it; however, he has not the willpower to pull himself back to good, crushed by the weight of the death of the angel general he loved.
Bio: Marik was one of the shadelings who served the Shadeling King at the onset of the war; he was one of the most powerful of the Shadelings, but he cared little about them, the Angels, or the demons. He was regarded as the 'most evil' of the Shadelings, capable of committing acts of great evil without any feeling or remorse, and twisted beyond recognition. However, during battle where he met Farera, his evil facade fell away and he fell in love 'at first sight'. Almost on the spot he surrendered to the Angels and joined them, and his twisted, blackened image became the face of a warrior of good, even though Farera never knew of his love. Though the Angels were afraid he did this only for Farera's sake, Marik began to feel the liberating feeling of abandoning the evil that had long consumed him. However, towards the end of the war, when Farera was killed, even the power of good could not hold off the anger and despair that Marik was cast into at this event. He left the Angels behind, and turned back to his former ways of evil, committing acts of evil but never believing in evil or its power; he hates himself for it and reminds himself that Farera would hate him for what he has become as well. Since he has heard that the angel generals have been reincarnated, however, Marik has been searching tirelessly for the reincarnation of Farera, hoping she will help him to pull away from the evil he has fallen back into.

Fighting: Marik's magic consists mostly of a strange combination of shadow and light magic. The energy created by this magic is invisible, but allows him to interact with his surroundings using it. It is something like a combination of telekenisis, psychic powers, and actual shadow magic. He avoids physical combat as much as he can, but when he must engage an enemy in hand to hand combat he will generally attack viciously, powering his attacks with his magic.
