Winston College is a private undergraduate school situated in the Greenwich Village area of Lower Manhattan, New York. It has a student body of only around 200 students and boasts an extremely selective acceptance rate. The students that attend Winston are rarely ever wealthy enough to afford its tuition fee of nearly $60,000 per year, but none of them graduate from the school with even a penny's worth of loans. The members of Winston's student body are all exceptionally talented in areas ranging from sports, to the arts, academics and beyond, and if they're lucky enough to be accepted, they're almost always given full scholarships. For the 200 years that Winston has existed, it has always been a small school that possessed minds worthy of Harvard or MIT, but a low key reputation that never garnered the attention that those schools did. While many appreciated and were drawn to this, it has recently made it more difficult to offer the students the scholarships that allowed them to attend.

The new president of the school, John Quincy, is looking to change that. As the son of one the wealthiest investors in America and an acclaimed businessman himself, before joining the Winston family, Quincy has connections like no other. He's reached out to the community of fame and power and has sought out their children, whether they are gifted or not, to attend Winston this year. It's a move that has not pleased all of Winston's alumni and current students, but he's convinced that broadening the school's student body will not only enhance the college experience, but with this particular group, enhance the school's future grant funding as well. The current students of Winston have already labeled these incoming students as "The Royals". The Royals being accepted into Winston merely because of their family name or status has left some of the current students with a bitter taste in their mouth and in some ways, with good reason. They spent most of their lives working hard with the hopes that they would one day get into a school as selective as Winston, and it seems like a slap in the face now that The Royals, who are almost all unqualified to be students there, have been admitted.
