Slowly as the sun receded among the silhouette of trees. A beautiful girl of the age of nineteen walks alone. "Why of all nights am I late to this one party?" She questioned herself while checking her purse for a mirror. Her red high heels clicked on the cobblestone as she drew out her mirror and checked her complexion. The wind was starting to pick up and blew her long, curly red hair. "Brr. Itâs starting to get cold," she said while pulling at her tight long sleeve-shirt. "Maybe if I cut threw the city park I can be there on time for Cindy's party" She muttered to herself.
She started to walk into the park. And walked along the long path of light poles. It was about a quarter to nine and the party started at ten. She walked past a bench where a couple of lovers kissed while the moon started to shine its pale moonlight.
With a "Hmph" and a roll of her eyes she picked up her pace. She hated it when lovers did that in front of her. Suddenly she heard a rustling in the bushes that made her jump. She looked towards it to see a shadow behind the bush. "Is anyone there???" You could hear the fear in her voice. There was no respond...
She started to pick up her pace. She never liked being outside after dark. But she really wanted to go to Cindy's party, whom being not as popular was glad to receive an invite.
She could just see the park exit about 10 feet away, a clear exit. No one was walking her way so she started to pick up her pace. She tried to not trip over the garbage that littered the ground so she was watching her steps carefully.
Out of nowhere she bumped into a man. "Ahh!!" she screamed. "I'm sorry Miss for running into you, I wasn't looking where I was going." The man tried to say while the girl pushed him away. Just being aware to what had happened, she stopped being frightened. But didnât lower her guard. For she knew something was wrong, she could just sense it.
The girl just starred at the man with a vacant look. He was tall with dark clouded eyes. His skin pale as death. The man wore a dark, long, leather jacket with a blood red scarf. His short spiked hair matched his dark jacket. "Oh I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I screamed, you sort of startled me," she said with a blush. The man chuckled. "Its quite all right. I tend to frightened my self often too." He smiled. He had such a gorgeous white smile. She just had to stare. "Are you all right? You don't look too well." She snapped out of her trance. "Oh yes, yes I'm doing fine I'm just in a little bit of a hurry and Iâm sort of afraid of the dark." She said while staring into his deep dark eyes. "Do you want me to escort you to your destination?" He asked with concern. "Um. Well." She said while fidgeting with her hands. "Um sure if you don't mind." "Very well then. Um. I don't think I got your name." She glanced at him once again and said, "Melody. Thatâs my name." "Well its nice to meet you my dear, Melody." She started to blush. "Awe stop it! Your making me blush!" Melody said while giving him a little friendly push. They just both laughed. "Well we must be on our way. So off we go." He held out his hand. She gracefully accept it. And they walked out of the park.
âSo to whoâs honor do I owe this gala that we are attending.â He asked. âGala? Do you mean the party?â Melody asked in a puzzled tone. âI do believe thatâs what I asked.â A serious glance started to form in his eyes. âWell weâre going just to a party. Nothing special.â The conversation ended with a notable nod from his face. They walked along the asphalt street to the lighted house. The dark cloud of crows seem to fly over head, from tree to tree they took flight. The autumn leafs danced along the asphalt street in a circular waltz. âSo. I didnât seem to catch your name.â Melody said monotony like. With a sharp glance of his dark eyes he said. âGabriel.â And took Melodyâs hand a pecked it with his lips. Aw how sweet. But I barely know him. Keep a watchful eye on him Mel. Melodyâs mind said in a whisper. Melody quickly drew back her hand.
After a couple minutes of silence, they came up to the house. The music was blaring; a never-ending chatter of peopleâs voices, and the use of alcohol were frequently used. With hands held, the girl and the stranger entered the unfamiliar house of non-stop parting.
âMelody!â said the shrieking girlfriend of Melody. âCindy!â she said nervously. âYou finally made it.â She tried yelling over the music but was unsuccessful. âWhat?â âUgh, Just follow me.â With one sweeping motion Melody was grasping Cindyâs hand, and they all weeded themselves through the party of dancers on the dance floor. They were lead into the kitchen where in the background, besides the thumbing of the music; you could clearly hear phrat boys saying, âGo, go, go, go!â As the innocent boy drank the deadly drinks they served to him. âIâm glad you finally made it. I started to get worried that you wouldnât come.â She just giggled. âWell I would have been here sooner but I ran into someone along the way.â âOh did youâ She said with a little smile and glanced at the man standing besides her. âGabriel, This is Cindy the one whoâs hosting the party.â He quickly glanced at the dance floor and said. âWell itâs a pleasure to meet you.â He said while out of his pocket a black rose was in his hand. âOh my. Why thanks you.â Cindy swooned over the man as she took the black rose and put it in her blonde hair.
âExcuse us Cindy but I would like to dance with Melody for a while.â He said while drawing closer to Melodyâs hand. Melodyâs heart began to flutter and fluster like it was about to jump and take off. But graciously she took his hand and was lead away towards the dance floor.
He dance as if were at a ball or a proper event. Gabriel grabbed Melodyâs hand drew her close against his broad body. And just started to sway and spin around. It was a slow dance so it was common.
Melodyâs heart was trying to take off again, trying to fly to the highest. But melodyâs mind was keeping it in its place. Her hands were beginning to sweat and Gabriel just smiled.
He started to get closer, closer then she wanted, He gazed into her eyes, lightly kissing her on her lovely scarlet lips. Melody tried to respond with the same motions but was numb with emotions.
The song started to end to its crescendo and the dance was over.
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding the grandfather clock rang above all the noise. The clock showed twelve. With out any notice Gabriel said. âMelody I have to get going. I was supposed to be somewhere earlier and Iâm late.â Melody was starting to dink a little and said. âWell if you say you need to then I guess you should go. But hey, I didnât get your number or anything. I really want to meet you another time. What are you doing tomorrow night?â Gabriel hesitantly kept looking out the window towards the sky. âUh nothing. Meet me at the park same place, same time.â And before Melody could respond Gabriel was gone. And she was left alone with the groups of passed out teenagers.
