Galapagos City has a mediterranean climate and the soil is fertile (volcanic ash- high in potassium and nitrogen) across the lands. The diverse climate of the city allows for a large variety of crops to be grown. While the city itself has a high population of people to feed more than 3x the food is grown than needed each year. Not being able to consume as much as they grow the surplus of the goods made in the city are shipped over seas to other countries.
Some crops grown on Galapagian farms included artichoke, mustard, coriander, rocket, chives, leeks, celery, basil, parsnip, mint, rue, thyme 'from overseas', beets, poppy, dill, asparagus, radish, cucumber, gourd, fennel, capers, onions, saffron, parsley, marjoram, cabbage, lettuce, cumin, garlic, figs, grapes, 'Armenian' apricots, plums, mulberries, and peaches. Cows provided milk, and oxen and mules do the heavy work on the farm. Sheep and goats are used by cheese producers, and are prized for their hides. Horses are not widely used in farming, but are raised by the rich for racing or war. Sugar production centers around beekeeping, and some Galapagians raise snails as luxury food.
One thing that Galapagos City is praised for is their prized wine. To the Galapagians wine is a daily necessity and no matter if you are high or lowborn you enjoy wine. Whether is the fine, aged vintage, or cheap and new -- wine is a staple of domestic life. Remarkable for its abundant harvest and the unusually high quality of wine produced, Galapagian wine is the most highly prized wine in the world.
Mining is one of the most prosperous activities in Galapagos City. The city is rich in resources such as copper, gold, iron, lead, salt, silver, jewels, and dragon remains for a time when dragons use to populate the world, materials in high demand. The city is open to trade with lands near and far. As of recently the only place the city did not do trade with is that of Drake City, Khalidorian Empire and the Arctic Lands. This being for personal reasons of the king. Outside of those three lands the city use to do trade with all but now trade has also ceased with the Empire of Atlantia due to them attempting to put up a blockage in the ocean interfering with Galapagos CIty affairs.
