Teri was driving home from work; she had a night shift at McDonald's, while she went to school during the afternoon. But this was the first night since moving to Bixby that she had actualy worked there. She was tired and it was almost midnight; bedtime she thought, yawning. There was hardly any traffic on the roads, she noticed. Very quite town, Bixby was. It wasn't a long drive back from the local McDonald's to the small apartment Teri had rented; closest thing to the museum she could find when choosing her new home only about a week before. Even as a new college student, she was already piling up on school work, and house chores. She hadn't realized how hard moving out on her own would be for the first time.
"What the...?!?" Everything came to a sudden halt; Teri flew forward, her seatbelt catching her only centimeter's from the windshield glass. She glanced at her dashboard; the digital clock was bright with the time; 12:00. Out of nowhere a blueish mist covered everything in it's glowing light. No, not a mist, she realized. It was just the air. Absolutley nothing had changed except- her car wouldn't move another inch! She shoved her driver's side door opend, and scrambled out into the blue. The night immidiatly enveloped her in the dim glow. The wind wasn't blowing. Everything was totally still. An unnerving quiet filled the air.
She removed her glasses, and rubbed her eye's. That was really messed up. She could see everything crystal clear; but blurily with her glasses on. She placed her glasses inside the glove box, then turned and retreated from the car. Something was going on and she was going to get to the bottom of it.
