One creature like no other is the fabled Khell'Dru, the ice mammoth. All who have ventured to find it have never returned from their journey. It is said that it stalks the frozen wastelands of the North and any who can take back it's pelt and it's tusks will be rewarded with riches to last them a lifetime and beyond. For it's pelt is a legendary one, believed to be the softer than any material and resistant to any cold that comes it's way. If any were to craft a cloak from the fur the wearer would never be cold again. But of course, many believe it does not exist. And less believe that if it did, it is no longer alive. But it is a story that has went through Antrah for thousands of years fascinating adults and children alike.
You have been told the tale of Khell'Dru and have been, like many others, filled with wonder. You feel that you will go out and find Khell'Dru, but first, you must band together a party to help you on your journey. Will you find Khell'Dru? What will fate hold for you in the great world? The only way to find out is to set on your way in the Hunt For Khell'Dru!
The humans have long been in Antrah, as long as any species cares to remember. They inhabit most of the world and can be found from the cold northern camps of Frostguard, to the burning shores of Azhelm, even to the dwarven mines of GreatWeld.
A human is not an especially magickal creature, but it makes up for that with it's cunning mind, humans have long been known as a species that excell in nothing but can work with anything. The jacks-of-all-trades they are jokingly called.
As with humans, the Elves have been on the world longer than even they care to remember. They are often found living in large cities in even larger forests, and tend to shy away from the main cities. They are usually quite peaceful, but if their home is threatened they can turn very nasty. Many of them are talented archers, and others are powerful druids. It is believed that the Elves are so close to nature that they speak to spirits and are one with the earth. A travelling poet once wrote, 'Elves are the nicest, it would seem. The kindest of kind creatures, the most handsome of features, yes, Elves are the nicest, it would seem. But I once met a farmer named mr.Darmer who said the Elves were scared of his crops. He claimed they would come and they would see him farm and they would cry and head for the hills. I told Mr. Darmer the small human farmer, that Elves were the nicest it would seem, but you see Mr. Darmer the short human farmer, they can hear your poor old cabbage scream.'
Of all the creatures that inhabit Antrah, the Dwarfs are by far the most curious. They look much like a human, but shorter and angrier. Many of their men grow large bushy beards. And they are famous for their brewing ability. It is a well known fact that all the ale and beer that comes to the large cities of Antrah, come from Dwarven breweries. As well with their talent in brewing beer, they are the most efficiant miners and export gold, gems, crystals and oil throughout the land.
Dwarfs are known to have tempers as short as they are (If not shorter) and are quick to smack someone with their warhammers if so much as looked at the wrong way. They often live in large mining communities and build great strongholds. Many of the great cities, such as the city of Grendwal, have used Dwarven architecture when building large walls to protect themselves. Their architectural businessess are often rivalled by Elven architects who have been often hired in the building of castles and large houses because of the unique look that they can create.
In all forests live the Faeries and the Pixies. They are both very small, no longer than the palm of your hand, and have small fluttering, silver wings. Both can perform weak magick and often spend their time tending to the threes and plants of the forest they live in. There are differences between each species though. Faeries look almost like very small humans or elves and are usually very friendly. But Pixies have dark reptillian skin that varies from green to Blue, to Yellow, and some have even told tale of a Black Pixie. Though, there is no official proof of such a thing. Another difference is that Pixies are often very mischevious and will steal from travellers who happen to camp within the home of the Pixies.
There is a children's tale that has struck fear into the hearts of all the young. It is of course, the tale of the Grimdiwell. The creature only ventures out at night to look for children. It is said to be a large thick snake-like creature that has millions of legs. When it spots a child it's skin will begin a beautiful display of colours. It will then perform a hypnotic dance and lead the child to it's lair. Once it has the child it's face opens to reveal hundreds of small mouths that it will use to devour the child. So far, the Grimdiwell has been blamed for the disappearance of a total of three children. And many of the children were found, dazed but unharmed. So far there has been no proof of a Grimdiwell but the story tells that if one should ever happen upon it, they should show the creature it's own reflection, causing it to hypnotise and then devour itself.
Among the world there are other dangerous creatures one should be wary of. For instance, there are the poisonous whipping plants of the western jungles that can whip an animal (Or person, or what ever happens upon it) and poison it before taking the body and pulling it away for other animals to eat.
Psirens are another danger especially to men. They will appear as beautiful women singing a wonderful song that will lure men closer. Often a Psiren will attempt to kiss a man and just as she does so, she will suck out his soul. A powerful combat tactic against a Psiren is to always have a conscious female near by as they are not affected the a Psiren's Song.
Within large swamps one should be careful of the BloatSlugs that inhabit them. It is said a BloatSlug can make itself explode, spraying an acidic, oozing liquid onto nearby predators. The only downside to this defensive mechanism is that it kills the slug. Bloatslug shells are often a valuable treasure and can be sold for a large amount of gold.
