Witch Hunt

During the 19th century, a craze had been carried from medieval times into their time. The witch hunt. Despite its name, the hunters did not only pursue witches. Werewolves and vampires were also on their list. History proclaims that it was truly innocent people who were hunted down and killed. Is it true? No. Lies sewn by vampires, witches and werewolves themselves to help them hide from persecution. The roleplay takes place in 1800's England.

The Factions

Vampires

The Banner: A group of vampires who seek nothing more than to be left alone by humanity. While they do not believe in revealing themselves, they will not kill to protect their secret. They just merely make sure the person does not reveal their existance. They are most at odds with the Tower.

The Empire: A ruthless group of vampires who wish to enslave humanity. They see humans as mere food, and are prone to kidnapping people they come in contact with. They are cruel and vicious, and hate any supernatural who isn't a vampire.

Werewolves

Lupin: A group of werewolves who enjoy the hunt, but supress themselves. They do not believe in wanton destruction if it is not necessary, although sometimes they give in to their urges and go bezerk. They try to hide from humans, although they do nothing if found out by an ordinary person. They are at odds with Redclaw.

Redclaw: A group of sadistic werewolves who wish nothing but destruction upon society. They will kill anything they can if it will amuse them, and have no qualms about revealing themselves to society, as long as it causes mass panic. They are the reason the werewolves are the second most hunted after creatures in England. They are at odds with everyone, sometimes even other members of Redclaw.

Witches

Tower: A group of witches who wish to enlighten humanity about the supernatural world and its friendlier denizens. They live like scholars, studying magic intensely. They love to show themselves to humanity when they know it is not dangerous. They are reluctantly at odds with The Banner.

Ouranos: A group of witches who see others as playthings. They are infamous for heinous crimes, such as forcing people into sexual acts, slaughtering entire families and then turning them into undead minions, and other abominations. They are the reason witches are the most hunted after creatures in England

Humans

The Witch-Hunter Knighthood: Humans who have mastered the skill of slaying violent supernaturals. They wish to keep the rest humanity unaware of their existance, and sometimes kill to keep their secret, but are also known to occasionally recruit people into the order. They are at odds with Ouranos, Redclaw, and The Empire.

Normal: Just normal, average citizens trying to survive the harsh condition of 1800's England who manage to get caught up in all this. They may be self-proclaimed slayers, or a merchant who happens to have a bad run in with a werewolf or vampire.

Powers

Vampires: Vampires heal incredibly quickly after drinking blood from any source. They are also incredibly strong and fast, and can scale building walls with no aid. Vampiresd do not age.

Werewolves: Werewolves can take human, wolf or hybrid form anytime they want. They are even stronger than vampires, and have an acute sense of smell, akin to a bloodhound. Werewolves age only every 10 years.

Witches: Though not able to perform miracles, witches can do amazing things. They can cast spells do anything that would not be considered overpowered (IE: A fireball can't have the same power as a nuke, or a revive spell can't truly revive someone, only make them a zombie or ghost). Witches age only every 5 years.

Weapons are the normal weapons for the era, like one shot pistols and such. You can also use weapons that existed prior, such as a sword or spear.

Name: Sir Samuel LeFroid
Age: 32
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Faction: Witch-Hunter Knighthood
Weapons: Samuel carries with him a sword that has "God With Us" inscribed on the blade. He also carries a one shot pistol with him, used for firing silver bullets.
Outfit: Samuel wears buckled shoes, brown felt breeches and a black vest over a white shirt, keeping in with the style at the time. He also has an overcoat, which is long and full of space, used for hiding his weapons in public.
Appearance: Samuel is a well-off looking man, with cleanly oiled black hair, all tied in a ponytail. His skin is pale due to the lack of sun in England, but it is clean, and it smells of soap. He is not very tall, stainding only at 5'6, but he is strong, due to his line of work. He has a stern face which bears a roman nose, and two, patient looking grey eyes beside it. His face seldom comes out of its look of indifference, except when he is playing the piano.
Bio: Samuel was born to a French father and an English mother, leading to a bit of ridicule. He grew up playing the piano instead of playing outside with the other children, loving every moment his fingers were on the ivory keys. On his 16th birthday, his father inducted him into the Witch-Hunter Knighthood. He advanced through the ranks enough to became a participant in the hunts, showing promising skill. He fought noblily in the fights against the supernaturals, recognizing which were enemies and which were not. This has earned a few connections in The Banner. Today, he still fights the supernaturals, who have increased in activity.

Age: 19

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Faction: Civilian

Weapons: "Ye olde Pitcheth Forkieth", and a Knight Templar Shield(Those shields with the red cross on them) passed down through his family since the Crusades, as well as a short knife

Outfit: Peasant, farmer cloths. A tanish shirt, with green pants. He has worn, brown buckled shoes. He also owns a dark green riding hood and a matching cloak.

Appearance (pic if you wish): Tall, and handsome. He has thick blonde hair, and blue eyes. His skin is rather dirty, because he belongs to a family of middle-poorish farmers. His hair is greasy, because he can not shower often, and he's got a scar on his left cheek

Bio: The Green-Heart Family name was given to them, when they lived in Ireland centuries ago, because the first members of that family were originally foresters. Even though the family married into German royalty later on, that royalty fell apart during the 1st Crusade, and the family fled to England. Now, centuries later, they live outside of London, on a small farm. The family Farms to get they're tax money. Mathias, on the other hand, does more things then just farm. He sneaks into the city at night (literally, sneaks) in his cloak and riding hood, and borrows money from the locals to benefit his families well being. He only started 2 years ago and already he is not only wanted, but has been captured 2 times. The guards however, always think they have the wrong man, and let him go. Also, within the 2 years of his thieving, the families financial well-being has started to improve

OOC: I'm gonna start this, as I know someone who would already gladly join. I will also be roleplaying the badguys, unless we get some people who want to play them

Samuel strode down the cold, moonlit streets of London, trying to focus on his mission. The Empire had been abducting people extremely often recently, and he had to put a stop to it. The last victim was an Inquisitor, who had been proclaiming that they needed to be whiped out.

The light of the moon itself seemed cold. Cold like the steel on his sword. Cold like that feeling he got when he saw those lifeless bodies, drained of blood and their eyes open and mouthes agape, stuck in a look of terror. The fact that no normal citizen dared to go out after sunset didn't help either. Just helped add to the feeling of death. Death didn't have a specific feeling, but more a conglomeration of several. It was sorrow, fear, anger, pity and disgust, all at the same time.

The stone under his feet seemed to crunch louder, the air seemed to get and thinner and the night sky seemed to get blacker, as he approached the door to their den. Something about the door seemed to tell him that they knew he was coming, even before he did.

He walked up the steps, and slowly opened the door. As soon as he entered, he knew that their hungry, red eyes were watching him, even though he couldn't see them. The entire place smelled of blood and decay, almost making him gag. No, it did make him gag.

He shut the door, unsheathed his sword, and spoke "You have committed foul crimes against humanity. The Witch-Hunter Knighthood has sent me, Sir Samuel, to punish you. We can do this two ways. You show yourselves and accept your fate, you die quickly and honourably. You attack, I gut you and put you out on a stake. Understand?"

Several red eyes revealed themselves from the shadows. As they came closer, bloody mouthes could be seen, meaning they just fed, and this would be alot harder than originally planned.

"Ouch!" Muttered Mathias as he tripped over a cobble stone and fell into a buildings wall "Stupid blighters. Those damned rich people drive around in their fancy little wagons and make us suffer by having to walk over the pot holes and up turned stones..." He continued to mutter as he made hiw way through the dank, dark streets of London, crossing small roads and alley ways

Adjusting his cloak a bit, he made sure his dagger was in easy reach. There she was, on the next street over, a large parlimentary style building which actually belonged to a rish noble. Mathias had been there before, he knew the place well, even knew how many guards patrolled there. 5 on the outside in the yard, and 7 on the inside. Only problem was he had to cross an old, run down building in the alley way by it to get too the building unspotted.

The place always smelled sickening whenever he went by, something like rotting fish, rotten eggs, skunk, and maybe even dead people. Breathing in, he held his breath, and began to move across the street, figure being iluminated by the dim shine of the moon, now slowly being swallowed up by the foggy clouds.

Finnaly getting across the street, he was about ready to walk into the building, when he heard a man talking

"You have committed foul crimes against humanity. The Witch-Hunter Knighthood has sent me, Sir Samuel, to punish you. We can do this two ways. You show yourselves and accept your fate, you die quickly and honourably. You attack, I gut you and put you out on a stake. Understand?"

Witch hunters? What a crok! Leaning on the door and Staring through the cracks, he could vaguely make out red eyes in the building. This man was only fighting rats!

Suddenly, the door started to creak, and strained under the weight of Mathias. Before he could do anything, the door broke off its hinges, and he fell into the building, right at the feet or many angry looking shadowy figures, and a startled man...

One of the figures stepped forward, looking like a man in his late forties, although extremely pale. He started laughing "Hehehe. Look what we got here! A normal human!"

The man knelt down beside the human and picked him up by the throat. "I suggest you leave or we make things for this gent right 'ere real unpleasant. Got it, slayer?"

The man drew his mouth close to the humans neck, until he felt something metal against his temple. He turned his head, and saw Samuel holding a gun to his head. "Aw shit." Samuel pulled the trigger, sending the vampire flying back, and releasing the human from his grasp.

Several vampires began to rush Samuel, screaming in rage. He looked back at the normal man, and shouted "Either bloody help me or get the bloody hell out of here!"

Blood, blood, blood Delven's eyes opened his nosed buzzed with the smell of blood, new blood and he was hungry. He nodded at the man behind the counter at the inn as he walked out into the night. His boots made a low click against the cobble stone path. He could feel his rifle against his side, one knife against his calf and the other hanging from his belt. The cool breaze numbed his face as he followed his nose.

He took a glace into the sky, big mistake full moon was out, he could feel his body being taken over he had to run to protect his secret. He raced into an empty ally where his body transformed into a large wolf standing on two legs.He followed the scent of fresh blood to a broken down door which emitted the smell or fresh blood and rotted bodies, vampire hole.

He could smell many different humanoid scents one that was real familiar to him but he could put a face or name to it. He looked in he could see two men and servel vampires.

The vampires stopped. One of the scrungier looking ones spoke out. "I thought this location was supposed to be secret! I mean what is the point of having a secret den if everyone knows where it is?" Several of the vampires just shook their heads at this.

Samuel looked at the werewolf through his peripheral vision. "If you are from Lupin, I could use some help. If you are from Redclaw, I will kill you later. If you aren't part of a group yet, choose Lupin if you value your life."

Two vampires lunged at Samuel, who quickly slashed at them with his blade. One was hit in the eyes, who immediately fell to the ground in pain shrieking "MY EYES!! I CAN'T SEE!". The other one was just skinned by the blade on his shoulder, and tackled Samuel to the ground, knocking away his weapons.

He looked back at the pair, trying to keep the vampire away from his neck "Yes, remember that help I mentioned earlier? I NEED IT!" The vampire kept trying to bite at Samuel's neck, but was kept away as the pair decided what to do.

Stepping silently out of the shadows a scraggly figure headed towards the growing chaos. He had been drawn to this place since his arrival, and had continued to watch it for days now. Yet all of his planning was ruined, because the foolish Knighthood couldn’t be patient and let him do things his way. A few oversized runes carved into the street and the vampires would have found a flaming building falling on top of them in broad daylight, but no, instead they sent in a sword wielding crackpot to get himself and others killed. They must still be trying to prove they didn’t need a half witch to deal with their problems.

Keeping his long staff from clanging against the hard stones beneath him, and therefore preserving the silence of his approach, the figure stopped a few yards in front of the door in time to see the warrior downed by one of the many unholy beasts. Bending down to one knee the silent figure begins pouring a pile of sand onto the cobblestones from a small sack at his side. Etching strange runes and patterns into it the figure muttered a string of incantations before slamming down his open palm scattering the sand and destroying the runes. A split second after his hand slammed down he drug it back into the air, a burning orb following it as if held by an invisible leash. Shoving his palm forward as if to repel an invisible force the figure sent the fireball blazing forward, slamming the vampire off the downed Knight and consuming it in its cleansing flame.

Briskly walking forward the figure lifted the strange ragged staff held at his side, whose pointed base glinted in the light of the full moon, and held it like a quarterstaff. Stepping into the light of the full moon the figure revealed himself to be a man of considerable age, with signs of a great many burdens having been placed on his shoulders.

“Repent or die.”

He watched the man speak the man a recognized the scent of. He couldn't responded back well so he gave a low growl and a little shrug as he walked towards the door and into the darkness. He was hungry so he needed to be careful he didn't want to hurt these men atleast not until he knew who they were.

His train of thought was interrupted by a vampire landing on his head, but before it could to anything he grabbed it and slammed it into the grown he pounced on the dazed vampire clawing into its chest, but the vampire retaliated by punching both his feet into Delven's gut. The vampire changed him as he flew into the wall. He could see the long fang about to sink into his neck so in denfence he threw out his arm which felt like it was on fire as the teeth sunk deeper with his other hand he snapped it's neck.

Name: Catherine Remarque
Age: 110
Race: Witch
Gender: Female
Faction: Tower

Weapons: Extensive knowledge of herb-craft and alchemy. One small single Silver shot pistol that has never been fired, fit snuggly into her bodice.

Outfit: For travel and necessity, selection of silk dresses and hats befitting a proper Victorian Lady, most in a variety of greens. When at "work" or among friends, Catherine prefers the ease of movement provided by the less restrictive corsets and fewer petticoats of her patterned brown and green dress appropriate for a cook or house servant.

Appearance (pic if you wish): Wildly curly shoulder length black hair that is constantly escaping it's restraints. The pale skin of a scholar marred by sun freckled and often pink nose, cheeks and rarely seen shoulders. Green eyes that sparkle with mischief and rarely reveal the sadness and awareness of her situation.

Bio: Catherine was born a seventh child of two seventh children into the Ouranos equivalent of royalty. At the age of 25 she disgraced her family by rejecting her status and becoming a novice with the Tower. Her family wishes to cleanse itself of disgrace with her slow, painful and public execution. Because of the number of assassins her family sends, Catherine travels (with an incomprehensible amount of luggage filled with books) a great deal and visits Tower safe houses only for brief respites and to exchange knowledge. She often takes refuge with and aides the Knighthood knowing they are equipped to protect themselves in most cases. However, most of the Knighthood members are unaware of her heritage and think her only a resourceful Lady who likes to read a great deal and 'play' at being a surprisingly good cook.

“Ouch! That’s going to hurt and probably get infected.”

Catherine spoke to the empty kitchen walls as she stared into the glassy surface of a small, water filled obsidian bowl. Over the last week since arriving at this safe house, she had taken to the habit of watching Sir Samuel’s movements. Because the man-child seemed to be ever watchful, Catherine had been unable to secret any protective amulets into his clothing or on to his person. He was even choosy about the spices in his food. All she had managed was a weak tea to enhance his sensitivity to supernatural beings. Things would be so much easier, if I knew he could be trusted, she thought as she continued watching the battle in an unknown alley.

She had seen Delven enough times before to recognize him in all his forms. He was a celebrity among those in the Tower and despite his age, many a novice of any gender would confess a crush. Because of his age, skill in battle and general self-controlled nature, Delven was a popular subject for a first year novice’s experiments in scrying. Of course the Tower rules regarding protection of his personal privacy weren’t broken too often. Catherine wondered-not for the first time-if Delven had developed a talent for sensing when he was being watched.

She closed her eyes briefly, touched chamomile to her tongue, and whispered the spell that would aid Delven’s healing. Werewolves healed quite well, but some Vampires were such dirty creatures, infection could take hold quickly.

”I do hope the boy is not harmed. That would be unfortunate.” She silently hoped John would take care of the boy and went back to watching and absently taking notes on what transpired.

Samuel got up, and spoke "Thank you, Sir John." He quickly grabbed his sword. Several vampires began to attack Samuel, but he quickly countered them. Vampiric blood spilled on the floor. "What stupid creatures. You are truly disgraces to the undead."

The largest vampire, well known for his ego, rushed Samuel upon hearing this. Samuel impaled him on his sword, through the heart, but the vampire just laughed "Someone as old as me isn't as easy to kill as these new-bloods." The vampire forced himself off the sword. "Now for me to the return the favour." The vampire swung his claws towards Samuel's face, but he manged to dodge it partially. The claws instead hit his left shoulder.

Samuel bellowed in pain. "GRAGH!" And quickly swung his blade at the creature's neck. The vampire stopped as blood trickled onto his chest. "I don't want to die yet..." Lucky for him he wouldn't, as the blade did not go deep. The vampire collapsed, and hit the floor with a dull "thud".

The remaining four vampires look at eachother, than back at the group "RETREAT!" They dispersed, tearing through the walls and landing out inot the streets. Before anything could be done they vanished into the darkness of the night.

Samuel looked at Sir John and pointed at Mathias "What do we do with him? I mean we either have to kill him or induct him, and I really don't want innocent blood on my hands."

After finishing off his first victim two more attacked him. One changed him from one side and the other from the opposite sides. Many thoughts ran through his head a few in particular. I think i'm being watched. That bite it feels weird not like a normal bite. I still can't figure out who this guy is the scent is so familiar. Stupid vampires not even worth my time. He jumped over the two vampires and grabbed the one on his left by the neck as the other one flew into the wall. The vampire chocked under Delven's strong hands and it's eyes trebled in fear. Delven showed him mercy by thrown him out the door as he charged at the other bitting into it's leg as it tried to fly away. Then tossed the died creature in front of Sir Samuel as he turned back to normal.

"You're scent is familiar who are you."
