Re: About the person who never used to see english rp

Hi. I answered your PM about a week ago, regarding us trying to set something up together and, as yet, I have not received a reply. I understand life can get really busy and there is not always time for the net. I just wanted to mention here (in case you check forums before your PMs) that I have not...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

I do not believe Ms. Fyrefly is saying that no rights should be given to gay people, merely arguing over the use of one word. Why is this word so important to gay people? Two, three, four thousand years ago, religion was law and the 'legal union' between man and woman was done with a religious cere...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

And now I am confused, what religions offer a carbon copy of the marriage ceremony to any and all? I also fail to see where your confusion is, I did try and be as clear as I could. I stand by what I said, the label does not matter. At least not yet ... Once all fifty states come round to that way of...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

DWIT, That is the point though. They will be Officially Married, in the same way as a hetrosexual couple who have a civil ceremony are. Just so I am clear however, because I object to it being called marriage that is me being "irrational" and "unjustified"? I really do not mean t...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

That was to do with Brown v Board case in 1954 over segregated education. The ruling for integrated education was actual made as segregated education was having a detrimental impact to the mental well being on the black children studied under the "doll test". The fourteenth amendment was t...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

Just popping in to clear up a semantic point. In the broadest sense, to be a fundamentalist is to strictly follow some core beliefs. People who are adamantly opposed to the redefinition of marriage fall into that category. Since nobody has even mentioned the free market, I fail to see how I meant &...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

Skim up to the post made by The Sickness, where he simply popped in to state his fundamentalist opinions about how gays can't have marriage, and then promptly said he's not going to debate this any further. Then tell me that what I said was in poor taste. Context, man, context. He never said they c...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

The point is, you are focusing too much on the "title" and not on the issue.

The title means nothing. Them getting same rights as rest of the coutnry does. People need to move past the label, and onto the issue, and the issue is NOT the label!

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

Religion, or faith should not enter this debate. The churches, synagogues, mosques etc. have their own set of rules and doctrines and, it should be at their discretion whether or not they choose to conduct a ceremony of any type for a same gender union. My point is (although, granted, I may have voi...

LMAO: I love it! Cletus is passing by Billy Bob's hay barn one day when, through a gap in the door, he sees Billy Bob doing a slow and sensual striptease in front of an old green John Deere. Buttocks clenched, he performs a slow pirouette, and gently slides off first the right strap of his overalls,...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

EDIT: I always thought we don't use mad because it has a social stigma attached to it. Civil union has no such stigma. It has the stigma of not being marriage. No one says "I'm going to get civil unioned today!" I agree with everything Dwit said. The point is, they can define their new st...

Re: Gay marriage: Yay or nay?

Exactly what TFO said. I am NOT saying I am against it. I am just of the "a rose of any other name ..." school of thought. I really fail to see how it popping anyone in the "same but different" category by calling it something other than marriage. That is like saying a man and a ...
