You were on a prison transport to a maximum security prison in the outer reaches of the solar system. Were aren't even talking about the solar system where earth is home to. Earth is about eight light years away. Halfway to the prison, the ship came under fire by meteorites which damage the ship to where it could no longer maintain its route. The guards and crew members abandoned ship with the only functioning escape pod. The ship crashed onto a desolate moon orbiting a gas giant. Out of about 1000 convicts on board, less than two dozen survived. The authorities don't bother looking for you and back at home no one cares about you.

The atmosphere is breathable and may even contain more oxygen than on Earth. The moon's landscape reminds one of Mars with a few oases dotting the landscape containing, oddly enough, plants and docile animals that also reside on Earth. The soil, although red and dry, seems to be fertile. Many small creeks run down from the mountains providing clean water. Wild horses, wild cattle, jackrabbits and more live in the oases. This place could be Australia far from home, only if there weren't sky high piles of technological wastes here. Maybe this could become your new home, as long as space pirates and other outlaws do not wish to be hostile. Maybe you could even build a telecommunications post and send out a message to the exiles of the constellation to join you in erecting a new empire.
