Quick Intro:


This is a Gifted on the Run plot, except these gifted have been created by the agency, and they aren't on the run.

These Gifted, called Betweens, are on Lillypad Islands, going through the training it takes to become an agent. Most of these people used to be nobody. Some used to be Resistance Children (explained in long plot.) These gifted have to break through their 'brainwashing' and find their way off Lillypad Island... before it's too late.

Long Intro

In 2212, the second Civil War started. It wasn’t between two areas, but instead, two different types of people.

Specifically the humans and the alt-specs.

In the early 2190s, severe genetic variations began to occur. Some people began to transform at specific times, or found they could kill people with their brains. They were kept well under control. They kept to themselves, and managed to blend in for the most part.

Like every group of people, the group of alt-specs, also known as Alternate Species, had criminals. These criminals were much more dangerous and successful than normal criminals, having the advantage of such gifts as telepathy, or teleportation.

This caused the public to demand help, and they got the ACG, also known as the Agency for Gifted Control.

They set up a base in every county of the U.S, and they helped everyone for a while. Then the new board members took control, and everything changed. ACG became a propaganda machine, and gifted had to go into hiding.

Sometimes the protest groups were just as bad. They could no longer protest publically, as things seemed to happen to the political activists. A random gifted terrorist would kill their family, or them. They have some sort of drugs scandal, or get eaten by a random wolf.

One of the notable protest groups got into genetic manipulation. They would get a hold of unborn children, the mothers willing or not, and make sure these kids were gifted, and would react very badly to the things the agency did. The exact methods of this group were unclear, but the effects were. Resistance Children.

They became a thorn in the agency’s backside, but they simply couldn’t shoot every Resistance Child they came across.

The Resistance Children became one of three groups the agency would send to the Lillypad Training Facility. A nearby island was the Lillypad Containment Facility, which helped take care of those who wouldn’t take to training.

The ACG took over the foster care system, and routed the gifted through their Agency Brat system. The humans were routed to Lillypad Training system, after they were old enough.

Sometimes, parents willingly, or were ‘encouraged’ to give up their children to Lillypad T. Some young adults even willingly signed up.

These are the groups that went to Lillypad Training. What happened once they arrived?

The ability to use humans safely in the Gifted War came to the agency in a treatment developed at the Sunrise Lab Facility in Colorado, known as the Between Treatment. These four groups of humans were separated according to the reason they came, which determined how much of the process they went through.

Those who came willingly were routed through a partial Between treatment. They would go through the surgery and two gift-inducing treatments, usually the safest formulas.

Those who did not come willingly either went through a full Between treatment, which included a final chemical treatment designed to induce retrograde amnesia. They were most likely to end up dead, as they were given the experimental gift-forming formulas. The ones likely to melt your face off.

The Between treatment was a horrendous ordeal, and it usually took people a year to recover well enough to go into training. They would go through the surgery first, which, thanks to the development of a material that objects could be coated in to avoid problems with the immune system, often involved replacing as much as possible of bone and muscle. Implants could also be put in, and Betweens often had very different implants, from ones to help their balance, to ones designed to control them (these had the highest failure rate.)

After they recovered, they would be put through their two gift-forming treatments, and if needed, this would be when the memory chemical was added in.

So what happened from here?

You would be taken from the island that held Lillypad Lab Facility to the one that held Lillypad Training Facility.

So that’s the dirty secret of this place, but of course, you won’t remember in two hours. Don’t expect to be able to get away. The retrograde amnesia chemical is 89% effective, and we put a strong telepathic block on what’s left. All you’ll have are dreams of what your life used to be, and you’ll never remember them.

Guards: These have the least restrictions on their species and powers.

Betweens: Two powers, one of four histories, and implants can be of your choice.

Teachers: They can teach anything from ACG regulations and rules to tutoring on how to control their powers.
