Introduction

Within an alternate universe, there exists a world of magic named Arakzil. It is home to many creatures, both from fact and fiction, and is ruled in peace by five kingdoms. These five kingdoms each house skilled magic wielders of a specific element; fire, earth, water, wind and lightning. The nobility of each kingdom govern with a just hand and Arakzil has been a world of harmony for centuries. This is due to the efforts of the first line of Kings that created the five kingdoms; The Five Sages.

The Five Sages are a legend within Arakzil; a story past down from generation to generation. The tale tells of an ominous creature descending onto Arakzil, bent on its destruction. This creature, later named Luthra, sought an immense power that dwelled within the heart of Arakzil. To obtain such power though, meant the destruction of the world, and the Five Sages made it their mission to put such a monster to rest. The Five Sages took up arms against Luthra and declared war, advancing countless times on the monster, yet each attempt ended in utter failure.

Above the turmoil of Arakzil, a second world existed known as the Elemental heavens. Here, spirits who possessed the power to harness the earthly elements from Arakzil lived in peace with one another. When Luthra came to Arakzil though, peace ended and chaos ensued. The King Spirits of the Elemental heavens also aimed to take up arms against Luthra, but had no means of reaching Arakzil. Elemental spirits have no bodily forms, and therefore cannot walk among the earth like ordinary men. Nonetheless, the King Spirits tried with all their might to reach Arakzil and join the battle, but also failed. Word soon came to the spirits that five men within Arakzil were engaged in deadly combat with Luthra. Since the King Spirits were unable to aid the five men themselves, they instead chose to offer their powers to the men. Out of the twelve King Spirits, five were chosen to form contracts with the men and bestowed the men with great power. In the midst of battle, these men were entrusted with the divine gifts of magic, each able to fully control one of the earthly elements. Fire, water, earth, wind and lightning joined together to combat Luthra once more, and in an epic duel to the death, the five men were victorious.

However, despite their newly obtained powers, Luthra's might was far too great for them. They had defeated the monster, but he was merely wounded, and there was fear he would heal before the five men could truly defeat him. With the aid of the remaining Spirit Kings, the five men decided to seal Luthra away in another dimension where he could not harm Arakzil. The seal would remain, so long as the bloodline of the five men remained as well. To ensure this, each man set out on his own and established a mighty kingdom centered around his specific element. Together, the five men also signed a treaty of eternal peace between the kingdoms and ended the wrath of Luthra permanently.

Five hundred years have passed since the Five Sages' battle, and the five kingdoms now share a strong bond of peace after a recent war. Sparks had flown between the kingdoms over unclaimed lands, causing a war that spanned seven years. It ended abruptly though when the Kings had exhausted all their military strength. Since then, the kings of each kingdom have continued the bloodline of the Sages, ever diligent in upholding the sacred seal cast onto Luthra. An uneasy presence falls onto one kingdom though as its King falls ill. Thahill, the Kingdom of the North, experts in lightning magic, has recently been struck with a deadly plague. To Thahill's dismay, its King, known as the Wolf of Thahill for his skills in combat, has contracted the disease and now lies on his deathbed with no heir to the throne. In an attempt to protect the seal, the King of Thahill calls for one of his generals, a prodigy within Thahill and the King's right hand mand during the war. He is young, but mature for his age and gifted with his magic. The King of Thahill asks for this general's help, entrusting the seal to him. Before the general can accept though, the King passes, ending the Sages' precious bloodlines, causing Luthra's seal to weaken. This causes a portion of Luthra's power to escape into Arakzil and potentially bring disaster to the city of Thahill. In a last ditch effort, the general asks the Spirit Kings for their help once more, and proposes the idea of creating a temporary seal within his body. The Spirit Kings reluctantly agree, and together seal Luthra's escaped power inside the general. This act, while heroic in the eyes of the Spirits, causes the city of Thahill to label their general as a demon. He is thrown out of the city and labeled as a monster who's only goal is to resurrect Luthra.

A year has passed since that incident, and a new King has taken the throne in Thahill. Another of the former king's generals, this new monarchy thrives for power. Within the city, he is known as a tyrant and cares little for the people. He had originally volunteered to seal Luthra's power inside himself, but the prodigy general refused to allow it, as he knew the tyrant's true intents. The new King has now made it his mission to find the outcast general and take Luthra's power from his own. He plans to harvest Luthra's power, then attack the other kingdoms to break the seal all together, driving Arakzil into a bloody war. Fearing this, the other four kingdoms join together and follow the prodigy general's actions and seal a portion of Luthra's power into one of their own in secret. These four are tasked with finding the prodigy general and stopping the tyrant King of Thahill, but finding the man will prove to be more difficult than imagined. The only evidence they have of finding him is his nickname that was given by the former King of Thahill; The Wolf's Fang.

Five days. It had been five days since Edward's escape from Thahill. He couldn't believe how quickly his own men turned on him the second their new King issued such an order. He killed several good soldiers, all of whom he had once shared a close bond with. He thought of most of them as brothers, and to think they cared so little about him... The visions of that afternoon flashed in Edward's mind again and again, only increasing the ache in his chest. He could still hear the battle horn bellowing loudly above him as he ran through the royal courtyard of the King's mansion. His ears rang with the shouting of his former brothers in arms as they chased after him, their voices carrying a tone of blood lust. It seemed this new King created monsters out of men, and though he did his best to avoid it, Edward had no choice but to slay them. He could still see the flashes of white dance across the pale blue sky as his magic electrocuted the soldiers that gave chase behind him. He did his best to only knock them out, but he knew some were not as strong as others.

The memory of his men lying there at his feet caused Edward to give his head a hard shake, snapping himself out of the brief day dream. He was sitting in a busy tavern, about twenty miles South of Thahill. He had ditched his previous attire, which was once decorated with the various awards he had won during the Seven year war, for something less noticeable. A black tunic with matching black boots and pants with a red sash tied around his waist to holster his sword. His torso was draped with a black trench coat that covered most of his body, and sitting in the dim light made him blend in with the dark of the night fairly well. The only thing he kept from his previous clothing was the thunder medallion that hung around his neck the former King of Thahill gave him when he was first appointed General.

Edward watched the various beings mingle about in the tavern, with no real interest in any of them. That is, until a certain pair caught his eye as they walked in. He immediately knew who they were, and quickly made his way out of the tavern. Damn bounty hunters. How the hell did they catch up to me so fast? He thought, making his way through the quiet village. After some distance from them, he slipped into an alley, hoping they weren't giving chase. It seemed to have worked, and after hopping a fence that bordered the town, he disappeared into the night, unaware that there was another presence following...

The sound of clops echoed through the night. Valeria looked at her map. 'I knew we should have turned left at the crossroad.' She thought to herself. It had gotten dark and Valeria was unsure where she was. The only thing she was sure of was the fact that she was somewhere between Camor and Thahill. "Uhhh!" She sighed "Why didn't you say anything?" She said in a stern manner. "Uh great... And now I've start talking to my horse. Soon insanity." With no response from her four legged companion, they slowed down to a halt. "Well no reason to keep going in the middle of the night, right Kenzo?" She lift herself of the horse. The clang of armor hitting the ground sound as she set her foot on the dirt road. She tied her horse to a tree, close to the road, and gave it a pad. "You just stay here while I gather some firewood."

An hour later Valeria had set up camp and was in the middle of eating some of her rations. 'I wonder if I am even able to recognize him.' She looked up at the night sky 'What have you gotten yourself into Edward?' Valeria had gotten used to the blurry lights of the night sky. “Tomorrow we’ll find him… Definitely.” A smile occurred only to soon disappear “I should really stop talking to myself…”

It was a quiet night as the moon shined over the land, a few quiet houses dotting the landscape. Then, suddenly, out of some trees came riding a rider in a gray cloak, her white horse moving slow but steady. Suddenly, Adriel flipped off the hood, revealing her face and blue-tinted hair. As she rode she looked about before taking out a map. Okay... so I'm here.. Adriel's finger moved some distance south of Thahill. and there's Thahill... So I guess I'm about the right distance for looking now, I doubt the Wolf's Fang would chance being any closer to the city.

Locating the nearest town, Adriel urges her horse to go a bit faster. She smiled and took a deep breath as she rode, enjoying the cool night air as she rode. The air reminded her of her home and of many nights spent "flying" over it, though really it was mostly gliding or hovering. It had always been one of Adriel's dreams to actually fly, but that would take a lot of energy, and wouldn't last near long enough. Her imagination then wandered back to her objective. "Is it too much to hope that he's in the next town? Then again it'd almost be better if he wasn't." she whispered to herself, thinking of her hunger and the tiredness which was catching up to her, and of how, if she found him, she'd have to start on the way back to Lamor right away. She then sighed, Why'd all this have to happen, I was about to teach gliding before this..

As a gentle breeze blew across the grassy hillside the clouds covering the sky parted, moonlight shining down on the white dragoness and her rider as she dismounted. Pressing a hand to the majestic creature's snout, Gwendolyn wrapped her free arm around it's neck in a loving embrace. Pressing her cheek against white scales Gwendolyn let out a soft sigh. "I will miss you so much Nyata but this is something I must do. I swear on my Dragon speech that I will call for help if it is needed." As if satisfied the dragoness nodded and pressed it's snout to Gwendolyn's face before turning and lifting itself to the sky with three flaps of it's wings.

Looking around Gwendolyn recognized the path that would lead her to the edge of Uzgal's land, where she knew her sturdiest horse and supplies waited for her a the inn they had been delivered to 3 days ago. It had taken two days to decide who would be entrusted on the mission and three more to convince her father to let her go, nevertheless she had made it and in speculation she grudgingly admitted that she hadn't lost much time.

About an hour later Gwendolyn reached the inn and immediatly gathered her supplies and left on horseback soon after. Her stallion, Night, was a large being, almost large enough to be considered a war horse, and had a pitch black coat covered in white specks like stars in the sky. As she rode off Gwendolyn only looked back once before truly leaving her country and heading off in the directing she had heard rumors of the General being in. Though the rumors had come from bounty hunters the information had been trusted due to the sum of money paid for it and the threat of death if they lied. Now, Gwendolyn rode fullspeed towards her mission and the Thahill General.
