(Supplementary concept art for Erika. No official art for Erika exists!)
Erika is a blessed with a lithe, bottom-heavy body build. Her hips and legs, in particular, are disproportionately large compared to the rest of her body. This is not simply a case of fortune, her large and muscular legs allowing her to easily jump to unprecedented heights. Her white skin is perpetually slick, sporting a rather unpleasant slimy feeling to the touch and appearing rather shiny by appearance. She has freckles of various shades covering her entire body, giving her skin tone a somewhat patchy appearance.
Erika has a very big mouth, literally. In fact, one might say it looks a tad freaky. Whereas a normal human's mouth might be twice the width of their nose at full stretch, Erika's mouth pushes the limits of its frame (her face). When she grins she can almost literally grin nearly ear to ear, a cheshire grin for the books. The Irises of Erika's eyes are also unusually large compared to a human's, leaving less Sclera (White space) visible. Her pupils are also larger and slitted, affording her excellent night vision. Her hair, much like her skin, is perpetually slick. It is only with the aid of various gels that it ever stays up. Erika stands at about five feet eleven inches (180.34 cm), weighs about 235 pounds, has deep sea blue eyes and hazelnut brown hair.

Personality
Erika is a rather nonchalant, level-headed individual, who places her dignity and independence at the top of her priorities. She has an obsession with magic, particularly magical artifacts which she seeks out to study for the purposes of creating her own. To this end she keeps a collection of magical doodads, some more practically useful than others, as well as a substantial library of books on all topics magic. Erika holds a very hostile disposition towards light magic and light celestial beings in part because of her devastating weakness to light magic, but also because of old grudges over her and her ancestors damnation. She often thinks of herself as a soldier, working to seek revenge for her mistreatment at the hands of a cruel and uncaring god. Despite this fact, Erika rarely chooses to fight of her own will as she finds most mortal conflict pointless. She prefers talking her way out of a conflict and will generally only fight if she or those close to her are perceived as being threatened.
In her element, Erika is somewhat forgetful and obsessive--usually having some sort of new 'toy' to gush about if provoked. She enjoys the presence of children and resents those who would take advantage of them. While not particularly romantic or cheery even on the best of days, she usually manages to be pleasant in the company of kids. Erika is not a woman who smiles a lot in the company of strangers. Her default disposition is one of wary tolerance. She enjoys having her ego stroked but takes sexual advances poorly. Erika is very sensitive to the temperature, generally becoming irritable when the temperature exceeds 90 freedoms (32 commies) or drops below 50 freedoms (10 commies). Similarly, she becomes very grumpy when the humidity in the area is low.
As a parent, Erika is a bit of a pushover. She has a hard time saying no, with a few notable exceptions related to her distrust and hatred of holy beings.
Physiological Abnormalities
- Can jump many times her own height and deliver devastating kicks on account of her huge hips, legs and feet.
- Excellent sense of smell and night vision
- Can breathe underwater
- Cold-Blooded
- Skin retains moisture very well. If it dries out, she dies.
- Difficulty chewing food; Swallows food whole instead. Exponentially larger throat and stomach capacity.
- Extremely long, sticky frog-like tongue that can lash out at speeds that make it difficult for the human eye to track.
- Her flesh is poisonous. (Not to be confused with venomous)
Weapons and Armor
Titanfury: A comically large longsword imbued with earth magic. The blade has the ability to manipulate the ground when swung, creating a powerful shockwave that can potentially level small buildings by disturbing and shattering the earth underneath it. The blade's latent magic can be discharged for a single devastating attack before it needs to recharge. This blade does not dull or break.
Acheron's Grief: A small sword enchanted with dark celestial magic, it's blade an obsidian black color. It steals the soul of its victims upon a mortal blow, trapping them in one of the three rubies embedded in the blade's hilt(s). It is also imbued with a deadly venom. This blade does not dull or break.
Wyrmrise: A small sword imbued with draconic magic. It leaves extremely painful burns when it cuts flesh. The blade's latent magic can be discharged to unleash a mighty spectral dragon made of draconic flames upon the foe, attacking them for a short period of time before dissipating. The blade will only respond to the hands of an avowed knight. It contains the soul of Ryuujin Jakka.
The Megiddo Shards: A half dozen magical crystal shards that float about Erika' presence. Each shard acts as a solar powered battery for fire elemental magic to be called upon and weaponized with extreme speed. The shards seem to have a mind of their own. When combined, these shards form The Megiddo Star, a volatile meteor that can explosively ravage a small area.
Duskhowl: This longsword's blade glows faintly with a magical orange sheen that seems to twist and warp as one stares at it. A twilight crystal is forged into the body of the blade, the source of it's magical properties. Duskhowl is so named for its tendency to emit a howling noise that becomes eerily similar to a scream when swung at full force. Other than that, this blade's only real power would seem to be its ability to inflict debilitating, nightmarish sensations upon those it strikes. These brief hallucinations prey upon the victim's insecurities and worst fears to make them hesitate in battle, forcing enemies to flinch and or lose control of themselves so that the wielder may make additional attacks of opportunity upon them.
The Fallen Angel: A set of custom fitted hihi'irokane plate armor, heavily enchanted to serve a variety of functions in the interest of protecting its wearer. Two of it's main functions are temperature regulation, as Erika cannot survive in extreme temperatures (Below 32 Freedoms or above 100 Freedoms) without the aid of magic. Its second function is protection from magic. The armor absorbs latent spiritual energy from the world around Erika to form a buffer between herself and attacks, being especially effective in reducing the strength of magic before it reaches Erika, however, it cannot protect her against a series of consecutive, strong attacks. The armor is also capable of charging its buffer using captured souls as fuel, which is substantially more effective than usual. The metal itself is extremely difficult to pierce or shatter. However, the armor does not cover Erika's entire body and the cloth/unguarded parts are much less effective at blocking physical attacks. Additionally, blunt force is largely effective at bypassing the armor's protection. Lastly, the armor is enchanted to give Erika substantial control over its weight. This last enchantment is usually fueled by Erika's own emotions, failing if she is knocked out or too exhausted to continue fighting.
Magical Prowess
- She is fluent with Unholy, Dark, Water, and Wind elemental magic in order of expertise; she can control other elements, except holy, with the aid of a magic circle. Her dark magic does not require speech.
- Her soul is super-potent, being far denser with spiritual energy than an adult human. She can tap into this power to commit intense feats of strength that would be outright impossible for a normal human. Does not require speech.
- She will self-resurrect some time after being killed unless her soul is captured and destroyed.
- She is a skilled artificer, capable of creating a variety of magical objects both practical and novelty.
- Erika is capable of magically swapping out her clothes, weapons or armor for another set.
- Anti-Magic that would normally prevent someone from spellcasting has no effect on any of the above powers, as they are fueled by Erika's own strength rather than any latent magical force she could be disconnected from.
Artifacts
Insomniac's Mask: A cursed artifact, Insomniac's Mask becomes harder to take off the longer it is worn. The wearer will never feel any effect of exhaustion, however, they cannot rest and their health begins to rapidly decline after a few days. An average human male will lack the strength to remove the mask after only 11 hours, however, Erika is capable of wearing the mask for up to 84 hours before it's grip becomes too strong for her to remove. After 3 or 4 days the wearer will begin to enter a zombie-like state of decreased mental function. Death will ensue in as little as 7 days, particularly hardy individuals could last several days longer.
Muse of the Dead: Resembling a mask made out of the broken face of a human skull, the muse of the dead causes it's wearer to take on the form of a rotting zombie version of themselves. It can also cause them take on the form of a sentient skeleton. The transformation is perfect, to the point that even the wearer will begin to forget what it felt like to be alive after a time. It is not true undeath, however, as the mask will fall off after the wearer suffers a blow that would normally be deadly to their skull. At this point they are freed from the mask, suffering severely from a magical sickness that renders them weak, frail and nauseous for the better part of a week.
Spectacles of Truth: These glasses, when looked through, bestow the wearer with true vision. The glasses will thwart any attempt to obscure the wearer's natural vision with magic and giving them the ability to see sentient life through walls and other obstructions.
Companions and Pets
Water Golem: This deceptively powerful guardian serves as Erika's personal bouncer. A five foot tall, bulky glob of anthropomorphic water with a surprisingly strong punch. This beast cannot be restrained unless it is completely sealed in a container and is immune to fire magic, ice magic and most physical attacks on account of its nature. This creature is Erika's thrall, bound to her and bowing to her whim. It's also quite tasty and refreshing in a pinch, apparently. Erika's Water Golem is dangerous strictly because of how difficult it is to dispatch, as well as it's ability to harass someone relentlessly on command. Lightning magic is it's only proper weakness. It does not speak, though one is left to wonder what it might say if it could.
The Late Sir Leonce Pascal: A sassy spectral knight and one of Erika's thralls. He was drawn to the spiritual conductivity of her armor and forced into servitude by Erika, who keeps him bound to her presence. Sir Pascal holds his master with disdain, performing menial tasks for her begrudgingly and often criticizing her when she calls upon him. Normally Erika offers her spirit servants the choice of freedom or another chance at life as one of her children after they've served her for enough time, however, Sir Pascal apparently cared for neither option and chose to haunt her instead.
Weaknesses
- Erika loses access to much of her spellcasting ability if she is unable to speak.
- Erika's body is very vulnerable to fire and ice magic, both of which can destabilize her body temperature and wreak havoc on her ability to keep fighting back.
- Holy magic is extremely effective at harming Erika, even more so than fire and ice magic. It has an effect on her similar to disintegration on contact.
- Even Erika's armor cannot protect her from sufficiently extreme temperatures.
History
Erika was 'orphaned' at a very young age as a consequence of her uncle's schemes to sacrifice her for his own gain and power. Her parents are not dead, rather she was taken away from them to protect her from her uncle and as of yet has never either of her parents. She was given up to a couple who didn't quite understand exactly what she was, especially with regards to her dark heritage, and they raised her into her late teens. The couple was a pair of mages who attempted to teach Erika magic, however Erika struggled with basic magic for reasons unclear to them. When they investigated this issue they discovered Erika's magical presence was being suppressed, likely to protect her from being tracked down. The curse placed upon her was too arcane for her adopted parents to dispel, and so Erika began a search for someone who could help her.
As it so happened this search led her to her grandfather, who offered to remove her curse in exchange for a lifetime of servitude--or more accurately, slavery. Erika reluctantly agreed, but when her grandfather removed the curse from her he immediately noticed the darkness in her soul. Recognizing her as being related to him, he refused to keep her as a slave and instead began raising her to tap into newfound potential. It was from him that she learned to use dark magic and with his aid that she received her armor, The Fallen Angel. He also helped her learn to wield a sword and gifted her with one of her own named Acheron's Grief, an artifact designed with synergy with her armor in mind.
Erika grew to spend a lot more time with her grandfather as time passed and she continued learning in his footsteps, adopting her militant hatred of all that was holy from him and mimicking several facets of his fighting style in her effort to aspire to become more like the self-proclaimed "King of Darkness". Unfortunately for her idol, his day would one day come and Erika would be left to inherit the collapsed remains of her grandfather's legacy. Newly self-proclaimed "Queen of Darkness", Erika set out to build herself a legacy and family of her own to fill the void left by the family she'd lost.
