While still a few years out, they convene for a solution on how to save humanity, Government officials keep the information secret until the scientific community can come up with an answer for the betterment of humanity. The scientific community dubbed the body, "Osiris-11", naming it after the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld.

Japanese Scientist, Doctor Matsuda Chiyoko, finds an Earth-like planet within the Alpha Centauri system, a previously over-looked planet within the region. She brings this to the attention of the scientific community, and the Japanese government begins funding the Human Preservation Project, a world wide project in an attempt to save humanity from impending doom. Within a couple of years, Australia, the United States, European Union, South America and Russia, all begin construction on various colony class space ships.

A large meteorite slams into England. Large enough to only cause damage to the English country side. Months after the incident, and in panic, the English Parliament passes a bill to allow BBC to broadcast information about the approaching asteroid, the largest asteroid known to mankind. This caused mass panic throughout the world.

While most sovereign nations kept from rioting, mass rioting ensued in Russia. Rioters forced themselves into the Human Preservation Project's compound in Chernobyl. Rioters demanded to leave immediately on board the ship and head to the Earth-like planet before the other nations were able to complete their ships. The Russian President Vladimir Kuzmin, gave the go ahead for the launch of the Kalinin, named after a former Russian missile cruiser.
The event being televised live, the Kalinin was launched prematurely. The ship successfully lifted off the ground, and made it a good thousand meters before exploding. The incident sparked more sense of fear throughout the world, and many people use it as an excuse to give up and just wait out the rest of their lives until Osiris-11 hits.

Later that year, the Japanese Human Preservation Project announces that they've completed construction on their colony ship. Assuring it's population, and the world, that the events of the Kalinin were taking into consideration, and that the ship was completely safe.
Japanese engineers, and specialists who've worked on project are sent to the other sovereign nations, or unions, in an attempt to aid the process and finish by March 3rd, 2024.

By March 2024, the United States, Australia, South American Union, and European Union all finish their colony ships. With announcement of the completion of the EU ship. President Vladimir Kuzmin signed an agreement to send a few thousand Russian citizens to the European launch site. May 2nd, people began lining up and were starting to board in a calm orderly fashion at each launch site.
The world held it's breath during the night.
May 3rd, people who weren't on board the ships woke up to frightening news. Osiris-11, was ten hours away from slamming into the planet. The projections of the scientific community were wrong, saying that the asteroid wouldn't collide with Earth until July 2nd. Real panic ensued, as Government officials tried to organize the chaos into an orderly, yet flowing fashion. Many people scrambled aboard, pushing past the guards and onto the ships. It was even believed that the Guards for the American ship used lethal force.
With only a few hours to spare, and small chunks of rock starting to rain from the sky, families were torn apart in the struggle to get on board the ships as the doors began closing, once the doors were sealed, the ships launched into space. It was estimated at the time by those who were watching the scene, that twenty-million people were still on Earth when Osiris-11 hit. People watched in horror as they witnessed a shock-wave spread across the entire globe within seconds, as they drew further and further, away from their home.
Earth, was gone.
The ride to the new planet was, to say the least, an easy peace. A quiet peace, as people tried to forget the horror of what happened to Earth. Friendships were formed during the trip. People enjoyed themselves, and the company they kept. It was only a few days away from the new planet that people began realizing one important detail that they seemed to have forgotten.
Freedom. Absolute freedom. In the rush to save lives, boundaries, ranks, and ownership of land weren't decided. Completely forgotten about during the months of ease. People were free to do what they will, with the resources they had available.
How will you survive? Will you create? Will you lead? Will you kill?

"Heh. I still remember when Earth was hit. Who could forget that horrible sight? My old home, the place I grew up, the places that I lived, played at, even learned from. Gone, all... gone. In the chaos I was separated from my family, my wife and kids, I thought I saw them in the crowd, but.. I'm not sure, and it's been a year or so since that day. I'm not giving up hope, they have to be here. After all...I'm here, right?"

"It's been quite a while since I made a last entry, I kinda forgot I had this. I wasn't able to find my wife or son. I did however, find my daughter. She managed to make it onboard, and we've been together since March 20th, of 2025. I'm so glad I was able to find her. She told me that...both her brother, and my wife pushed her on board before the doors closed.
Anyways, the Captain said that we were going to make landfall in a few hours. There's current a feast going on in celebration, and hope. Though, I know what's to come. How can others be blind enough to not see that the Governments of Old Earth didn't have the resources, or technology to establish anything here? There aren't any cities, any governments, nothing. We're on our own out here, and that realization will hit once the others step off.
I'm glad my wife and son died on Earth...I wouldn't want them living in this mess."

I made some improvements to the original background story, in an attempt to make it a bit more interesting, as well as changed a few dates around, and such. Pretty much, I've rebooted a Four part series that RainbowCorridor was trying to make, the roleplay died out due to various factors.
Anyways, new members, as well as old members who played in the original "To be Thrown Into the Chaos" are allowed, encouraged, and welcomed to join!

May 2nd, people began lining up and were starting to board in a calm orderly fashion at each launch site.
The world held it's breath during the night.
May 3rd, people who weren't on board the ships woke up to frightening news. Osiris-11, was ten hours away from slamming into the planet. The projections of the scientific community were wrong, saying that the asteroid wouldn't collide with Earth until July 2nd. Real panic ensued, as Government officials tried to organize the chaos into an orderly, yet flowing fashion. Many people scrambled aboard, pushing past the guards and onto the ships. It was even believed that the Guards for the American ship used lethal force.
With only a few hours to spare, and small chunks of rock starting to rain from the sky, families were torn apart in the struggle to get on board the ships as the doors began closing, once the doors were sealed, the ships launched into space. It was estimated at the time by those who were watching the scene, that twenty-million people were still on Earth when Osiris-11 hit. People watched in horror as they witnessed a shock-wave spread across the entire globe within seconds, as they drew further and further, away from their home.
Earth, was gone.
The ride to the new planet was, to say the least, an easy peace. A quiet peace, as people tried to forget the horror of what happened to Earth. Friendships were formed during the trip. People enjoyed themselves, and the company they kept. It was only a few days away from the new planet that people began realizing one important detail that they seemed to have forgotten.
Freedom. Absolute freedom. In the rush to save lives, boundaries, ranks, and ownership of land weren't decided. Completely forgotten about during the months of ease. People were free to do what they will, with the resources they had available.
How will you survive? Will you create? Will you lead? Will you kill?

"Heh. I still remember when Earth was hit. Who could forget that horrible sight? My old home, the place I grew up, the places that I lived, played at, even learned from. Gone, all... gone. In the chaos I was separated from my family, my wife and kids, I thought I saw them in the crowd, but.. I'm not sure, and it's been a year or so since that day. I'm not giving up hope, they have to be here. After all...I'm here, right?"

"It's been quite a while since I made a last entry, I kinda forgot I had this. I wasn't able to find my wife or son. I did however, find my daughter. She managed to make it onboard, and we've been together since March 20th, of 2025. I'm so glad I was able to find her. She told me that...both her brother, and my wife pushed her on board before the doors closed.
Anyways, the Captain said that we were going to make landfall in a few hours. There's current a feast going on in celebration, and hope. Though, I know what's to come. How can others be blind enough to not see that the Governments of Old Earth didn't have the resources, or technology to establish anything here? There aren't any cities, any governments, nothing. We're on our own out here, and that realization will hit once the others step off.
I'm glad my wife and son died on Earth...I wouldn't want them living in this mess."
