Pain, anger and hatred were the only things that Melanie got out of residing at a place like this. She didn't have a problem with voicing her opinion towards the doctors and nurses, as it was them who (for the most part) ran the place. Their normal response was a, "Hate is a strong word." while a finger was waved in her face and a frown was sent her way. Melanie wasn't a child, but the girl was sure treated like one. The lot of them brought a constant reminder of her parents, who could barely get a word out of her anymore upon monthly visits. Melanie could never hate her parents, oh no, but she did bare a grudge against them that was dwindling by the day.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a nurse who entered her room. Melanie sent her a dull glare, all the while keeping her lips pressed into a tight line. The nurse greeted her with a smile nonetheless, and began to perform a quick check up. She asked Melanie questions, which the girl simply ignored. They (the nurses and doctors) were all used to this behavior from her, but they knew that it was useless to try and pry. She simply stared straight ahead now, the urge to slap the nurses hands away becoming larger by the second. "Well, Melanie.. seeing as you didn't try anything yet, I suppose you can grab some breakfast with a few others today," The older woman drawled on, explaining to the younger girl that the doctors were looking to run a few tests, which would take place after she ate. Her words weren't acknowledged, however.
Melanie stood up, and waited for the other to lead her towards the cafeteria. It wasn't often that she got to go and the walk was silent, as per-usual. Once they reached a door which read "cafeteria" in large letters, Melanie spotted a girl, as well as a boy with intriguing headgear. The girl couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as they passed the two of them. She was quickly reminded of the painful bracelets that she was threatened with, being the very reason that Melanie had no intention of using her powers, at least for a while.
"I can't stand this place," she thought to herself, before being met with another superficial smile from her nurse.
