Pepper couldn't help but flush when she noticed Ian's gaping. She sat, listening with a little boredom but mostly with interest. When he noticed that they didn't have a place to stay she looked up. "Actually I live..." she trailed off, her eyes dulling. "Nevermind," she murmured and turned her captivating gaze from him to the window. "I should be going," she added and stood up. Without another word she turned to go out the door when two familiar faces pushed her back in the room. Pepper stared dully at the police men as they frowned at her.
"We've been looking for you for a while, Pepper," the taller one said sternly. "The orphanage is worried sick."
"I'm seventeen, Pete, leave me alone," the blonde said quietly, pushing past them to make her way out of the hospital.
