She let it out to make sure no one is afraid to tell her. But maybe some might not trust her anyways since her eyes are still blue because of a spell and they might think she is only tricking them to find demons or lichs to take out. But there was actually a lie in what she just said. The magistrate didnt know that she is a demon or even a lich and Kari did pose as a threat since she wanted to destroy the magistrate and take control of the nation. Kari herself only stayed kind to easily gain the trust of others and appear as a friendly person.
