Sydo still stared pitifully at the stone cobbles beneath him, but he felt comfort in Raiyla’s touch when she took in his hands. His eyes glanced over her hands. They were so soft, so elegant. It felt as if his own were being wrapped in silk, or being graced by a warm summer wind. He was too humiliated to lift his head to her question. In that moment he didn’t even want to exist, let alone show his face, that is until Raiyla lifted his face to hers, and his eyes augmented at the touch of her sweet lips.

Sydo was speechless. She was still willing to except him, even after he had rejected her. He wondered what it must’ve felt like to endure that kind of pain. To be rejected by the one you love. He gazed into her eyes with his mouth slightly open. The words wouldn’t form. He couldn’t speak even if his life depended on it. “I-I…” He was not able to utter anything else, but then Raiyla suddenly locked her arms around his neck, her weight, although it was not much, still caused him to fall back to the ground. They were fortunate enough to be in an unpopulated spot for the moment, otherwise Sydo would not have even been capable of comprehending such an incident. To be gawked at by the people of the Capital was not an occasion he wished to take part in.

Sydo laid there, underneath her beating heart, his hands instinctually holding Raiyla’s waist to support her, and his leg intertwined with hers. Sydo knew Raiyla was right. She was always able to read him so clearly, but then again she was a Sorian. She had broken through his shell, and now he was hers. “I’ve… never been… in… um… love before.” He felt uneasy speaking such words. His heart was beginning to race, faster and faster, as he slowly wrapped his arms around her, and held her close. “Is this... okay?” It was a redundant question to ask, of course, but Sydo truly did not know how to respond under such circumstances.
