Sydo carried Raiyla’s warm body in his arms, as he anxiously sprinted through the moon-lit streets. Raiyla’s life was coming to an end. Sydo peered down at Raiyla’s lethargic eyes, and harsh wrinkles stretched over his face, as he began to cry. The tears jerked off into the air as he ran, faster, and faster. He had never run so fast before. He began to exhale vigorously, and beads of sweat gradually streamed down his fore-head, mixing in with the tears and falling onto Raiyla’s blood soaked skirt. “Hold on Raiyla!! We’re almost there, we’re almost to the castle!” Sydo shouted, but his voice was still crackling from crying.

The pain in his chest was extending to his left arm. His body wasn’t recovered enough for such strenuous activity. “Damn it! I can’t give in!” His feet were burning, his one arm beginning to exhaust from the sudden activity. Raiyla’s body wasn’t heavy. It was simply all the running. Then, suddenly, Sydo could see the castle gates. “You there! Open the gate! Now!” Sydo could barely get the words out, as he was huffing and puffing for all there was in it. The guard on duty stood at attention, and immediately began to reel up the gate. The seconds seemed to last an eternity.

Raiyla looked up to Sydo, with an almost despondent gaze, her arms folded over the wound in her stomach, and her wings and hair dangling, and swaying with the nighttime breeze. “Sydo… please kiss me… Just one more time?” Her words were but a whisper. Sydo’s face washed over in fear. “R-Raiyla…! Please…. don’t die. P-Please!” He whimpered. He’d never felt so hopeless, as now. Sydo ran through the gate just after it was lifted over his head height. He slammed into the castle doors, but when he stepped inside, Raiyla whispered once more. “Sydo… Please, just one more time?” Sydo looked down at her, still sobbing. “Someone please, help! I need a doctor, now! Please!” His lips paused their consistent quivering, as he struggled to yell. Raiyla grabbed onto Sydo’s arm, as she gazed up at him with her violet eyes.

Sydo fell to his knees in the empty hall. He lifted her head, and leaned his face over hers. Sydo kissed Raiyla deeply, his eyes staring into hers, until Raiyla’s eyes closed softly shut. Sydo pulled away from the kiss, and his eyes augmented with panic. “N-No… Raiyla…. Wake up. Please, wake up! Raiyla!” He began to shake her lifeless body, and proceeded in the impossible endeavor of awaking Raiyla from her eternal sleep. Soon after he cradled her in his arms, and held her close, hugging her tightly.

Sydo’s white garb, and Raiyla’s white skirt was covered in her blood. The castle’s servants surrounded Sydo and stood over him, until one of them spoke softly. “I believe she’s… dead, my lord.” Sydo’s eyes darted up to the man. “Don’t say that!!” Sydo’s voice roared as it echoed through the halls. The servant stepped back in freight, as he flinched slightly. “I’m s-sorry, Sir Reemdel. Please forgive me.” Sydo laid Raiyla’s body on the floor, and sat silently on his knees for several moments. He finally lifted his head to the servant that spoke to him before. “Go notify his Majesty of this immediately. The chosen wielder from Soria has… has…” Sydo looked down at Raiyla’s silent figure, and hung his head in sorrow. The servant frowned. “I understand, my lord.” He then turned away and briskly walked toward the destination of the king’s quarters.
