Raine sighed; Chris was able to mount the Jarei...and she could choose one of the horses instead. She couldn't trust herself to approach the Jarei without doing something to irritate it too much, so horses were her best bet, anyway. And Nathaniel had proven before that he could keep up with a horse on his own. She wasn't too worried about that. What she was worried about, however, was whether or not the Jarei were faster than the horses, and whether she might actually have to mount the Jarei instead. But she was at least going to try mounting the horse instead; surely the Anubians would not be happy if they took all of their Jarei, anyway.
She turned from Chris and chose one of the horses at random, guiding it out of its stall before mounting it. She made sure she had a tight grip on the reigns and glanced to Nathaniel. "You'd prefer to run, anyway, right?" she asked, then nodded to Chris. She was ready to go...she may never be fully ready to fight, but she was more than ready to help out her friends, and do what she could. "Shall we get on, then?"
