The guards had found them, it was over now. Leomaris stood in front of his brother, though his brother didn't seem to run away, no matter how many times Leo told him too. They couldn't fight the kings men, what would they fight them with apart from a few small stones on the floor. One of them raised it's sword and prepared to kill them bother, Leo only closing his eyes and standing right in front of his brother. He would at least be the one to go first, then Vincent could escape. Seconds past and all that was heard was the trifled screams of the guards, it confused Leo and he felt himself to feel that he was still alive and completely unharmed. Slowly he opened his eyes and stared in horror at the bodies of the guards lying on the ground, bleeding and most likely dead. Their murderer standing over them. A large and well built man, wielding a sword which looked extremely heavy. A long and thick blade, probably weighing the same as an axe, though by the looks of it, he had no problem swinging it around.

Leo's head quickly careened around to check if his brother was okay. He was. Completely unharmed and still behind Leo. It made Leo let out a breath he had been holding for so long, over-joyed that his brother was still alive. Though there was someone else they had to deal with now. His violet eyes focused on their saviour, he would be much more harder to deal with. Not that they could deal with the first ones. But he did save them, which was confusing, no one else tried to save them before. Even when they called out for help, no one came. So why was this man different? Perhaps he just wanted to kill them for himself, since everyone else seemed to want to do so. He had taken a step forward and was staring into Leo's violet orbs with his own earthy brown ones. Leo couldn't pick up any emotion from the look in his eyes, just a blank stare directed at him, Leo returning the stare. It held for a while, silently staring into each other's eyes. The silence was broken with the clearing of the man's throat and his attention drawn to his brother. Leo kept his eyes fixed on the movement of the man, there was no way he would allow his brother to be harmed.

The attention was now drawn back to the Prince, giving Leo a nod and clearing his throat. Leo couldn't help but stare down at the blood on his clothes then to the murderous weapon on his back. He was nervous and a little confused by it all. The silence didn't help and neither of them wanted to say anything, though they were all probably buzzing with questions. More Leo. But he wouldn't ask anything, he just stood frozen on the spot. Almost like a prey which was trying to trick it's predator by staying, absolutely still. As if that would help.

The silence was broken by the dying cry of one of the soldiers, he obviously was now taking his last breaths. It didn't make Leo feel any better about the situation at hand, he much preferred the silence, not the dying sounds of a victim of this murderous man, even if the soldiers were trying to kill him. Leo cringed at the sound, closing his eyes and trying to block it out. “I’m sorry I didn’t come sooner.” He meant, of course, the fact that he had been unable to save the farmer they were with. Leo reopened his eyes, but lowered his gaze towards the floor, his head bowed in low-spirits and respect for the one who had died helping them. It seemed to be that everyone who got near them was killed. He didn't know why though, but maybe this guy would know...

“But… we can’t stay here. A scout got away. More will come.” He said definitively, his years of experience in this sort of thing probably showing through, but these mere boys would not likely notice the erect military stance he took, nor the direct manner of speech that was second nature to him. Leo's attention stayed on the ground, looking down at both his feet, not knowing what to say. He was still in shock over the fact he had seen so many deaths in the space of a day. He would never get used to it. “What’s your names?” Alastair asked in a gruff voice, and in casual manner that contradicted all the death he had just caused, like he was standing up against a mere painting of a miserable battlefield, rather than it being reality.

Leo finally raised his head and stared at the face of Alastair. He wondered how he could be so calm after just killing a group of soldiers. How he could still go on with his life as normal. But then, perhaps he had a reason to kill. Leo wondered if he would kill to save his brother. He hated the idea of death, but he would never allow his brother to die himself. Hopefully that day would never come when he had to make that choice. Saying you would protect is one thing, but actually having the guts to do so was a completely different concept. "I'm Leomaris Verlona...and this is my brother Vincent," Leo spoke in a hushed tone, almost mumbling his words. His foster parents had given him that name, his friends would call him Leo, though so far...Vincent was the only one who was alive who would call him by that name. Leo was always told to introduce himself in a formal manner, including his family name. Which actually belonged to his foster family and not his royal surname. He was oblivious to his true identity, everything he knew was real to him. Vincent being his brother in blood and his parents the same as his. There was never any doubt and there never would be.
