His strokes became feeble, useless, pulling him less and less against the draw of the current. He could not breathe, but that should not have mattered. He was a blitzball player. He could swim however and wherever he liked without concern.
So why was he choking on the water that surrounded him?
He heard the rumble of Sin's presence through the water, felt the power within him respond, but he could not bring on the strength to summon. Valefor could not help him here. In the distance, he saw Hizashi's shape plunge from the ship and into the sea, but Edge could not call out to him. The water was frigid, and the deep resonance of Sin cut through him like a knife, weakening him. He fell limp in the water, and the current sucked him in like a ragdoll, dragging him closer and closer towards that armored body. Slowly, Edge began to lose consciousness.
