Subject 26-B sighed slightly, leaning back against the chair. He was watching Subject 20-B perform, taking out exactly 99 mutants. Same as always, but never the last. As the last mutant raised his head, it revealed to be Subject 19. 16 hated the job of watching mutants train, he would anger himself at the face of 19. Of course 20 was easily taken down by a huge wound in his stomach. As real as possible the simulation was, able to make others feel pain. 16 had a hand in designing it himself, using one of his powers in the pain sensor, allowing the user to feel pain as normal. “You’ll die…I promise you,” 16 uttered the words, switching off the simulation. 20 had failed yet again. But it was to be suspected, everyone who entered that simulation always lost against 19. It was safe to say that defeating 19 single handed was impossible. Subject 16-B leant forward, putting his head down on the control panel and sighing. “I don’t care what you say Master 21. I failed you.” Mumbling the words to himself in a depressive state.

“Commander 16?” A voice came from behind him, another mutant standing in the doorway. 16 lifted his head and regained his serious composure, swivelling around on the chair to face the other mutant. “Yes?” 16 held back the urge to take his anger and depression out on the other mutant. He spoke in a strained voice, eyes narrowing slightly. “You’re able to leave now…” the other mutant said in a quiet tone, unable to find the correct words for what he wanted to say. 16 gave him a nod, waving his hand at the mutant dismissively before turning around to look back at the simulation screen. “Good day Commander 16!” he saluted before heading back out of the room, leaving 16 alone once again. The door closed and 16 pressed a few buttons on the control panel, bringing up the simulation image of 19. A twisted smile appeared on his face as he whacked the buttons screaming. “Die, die, die!” The image suddenly disappeared and the whole room went black due to a power outage. Subject 16 had managed to press the wrong button in his rage, turning off all power for the room. “Stupid 19,” 16 mumbled, ducking under the control panel to fix it. He seemed to calm down now, returning back to his original collected state, even frowning at his own mistake.

He rose up once again after fixing it, pressing a button as the lights returned on and everything began working again. “Sorry Master 21.” 16 said out-loud, whether or not 21 was watching him was another story. 16 didn’t bother to sit back down, instead he walked half-way across the room towards the exit. Suddenly he stopped, looking over his should at a door leading into the simulation room. There he stood for a few moments, contemplating the idea if he should go inside and train. “No one else is training today…” 16 confirmed it with himself, as he took a few steps towards the door. He walked inside the simulation, placing a mask over his face. “Commence Simulation; Subject 16-B” The blue walls of the room disappeared, leaving what looked to be space. 16 stood on the ground outside the base now, on the moon. He smiled from under his mask as a hundred mutants landed. A transparent knive appeared in either hand.

16 allowed them to come close before throwing it through the chest of two mutants. They cried out in pain, falling onto the ground. 16’s smile became twisted as a large transparent sword appeared in his hand, a few more knives in the other. He ploughed his way through the mutants, slicing them down and throwing countless knifes. He was completely unscathed when he stood before 19, however his frantic breathing could be heard behind his mask. The next thing 16 knew is an extreme pain coursing over his body and he fell onto the ground. “End…simulation…” he mumbled out-loud and suddenly the scenery changed until he was back in the room. Subject 16-B stood up, taking the mask from his face to reveal the depressed look on his face. 16 blew the stray strands of white hair from his face, looking down at the mask in his hands. “I can’t even get close to him…” 16 sighed, the mask disappearing in his hands. He looked towards the door and swiftly exited continuing onwards until he got out of the command room and out onto the hallways.

Subject 12 sat with his legs hanging over the edge of a rather tall tree. His face held a serious but thoughtful expression. Again and again he went over the words Subject 19 had said to him. Everything had gone perfectly since he left, Earth, one inhabited by humans, was now a paradise for mutants. Though both 21 and 19 were the ones to thank. “Stupid Gods.” 12 mumbled before hopping off of the tree. He landed with grace on his feet, straightening himself up and continuing to walk off into the distance. Lost in thought and torn about the words of 19. Parts of him just wanted to meet the mutant again, just to ask him what he actually meant. Would joining his side be the best option? Or would he end up like the other “servants” of Subject 19. Burned with the power of the sun, dragged down a black hole or killed in other indescribable ways.
