Ugh. It was probably way too early for any of them to be awake, but Jayden just couldn’t sleep any more. For the past half an hour, he had been tossing and turning, his sheets strewn across the floor by now. No matter how many times he forced his eyes closed, his mind was much too busy to be able to drift off into unconsciousness. With an audible sigh, he finally gave up; he sat up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. Everyone else seemed to be asleep still, from what he could see, but he didn’t move any quieter than he usually did. If they woke up, so be it.

The Engineer head off to the showers, turning the faucet on cold. He didn’t care what they had to say about cold showers, he just needed to make sure he was fully away. You know, had a clear mind and all. He allowed the water to wash over him, though by the time he stepped out of the shower he still felt the same. He stopped by at his locker in the bunker to grab his tool belt, snapping it into place around his waist before trudging off to the intelligence room, where his brand new sentry gun was set up.

Ah, the sentry gun. The bread and butter of any good Engineer. When he first joined BLU, his was only very mediocre (well, compared to it now at least). It was able to track the opponent, sure, but only fired machine gun rounds, and at a slow speed at that. Over the years, he’s worked on the design more, adding rockets, increasing the firing speed and efficiency and all. Of course, the one that was set up now wasn’t the original – that one had long been destroyed. But he always kept the blueprints to his sentries, so that he could build them from scratch with the upgrades already in place.

Today was just a normal check up – make sure everything was in working order and make sure the thing had enough ammo. Jayden approached the machine. As he did, it made a beep, as if it knew its creator was there. He crouched down and began examining different parts of the machinery.
