Carter's posture and body language right now mirrored exactly how he was feeling about the damned letters they'd just handed out. Shoulders slouched, head cocked to the side with an not-so-amused raised eyebrow glaring down at the object in his hand. He ran a calloused thumb over the smooth paper up until he touched at the raised piece that once lifted would reveal who the school had stuck him with for the rest of his life. Tch He thought, feeling a wave of stubbornness wash over him. If he didn't want to spend the rest of his life with the girl - and most likely he wouldn't - then he wouldn't. What was the worst could they do? Fail him? Kick him out? Either wasn't much of threat.
Finally though as his blue eyes flickered around the room to notice people chatting amongst themselves, mumblings names, or simply calling out as they tried to figure out who their assigned soul mate was. ..Assigned soul mate. Something about being told who your suppose to spend the rest of your life with and that you have no choice in the matter frustrated Carter. IF he was going to feel that way about someone, he wasn't about to be told who to feel that way about. Standing up, before class had begun the eighteen year old stuffed the letter in his back pocket, slung his bag over his shoulder and stalked out of the classroom. No way. He still had rights. Before he dare to open that letter he was going to argue this with the Principle, or the Vice Principle, or whoever the hell you had to talk to around here that dealt with this bullshit. He was going to simply put the unopened envelope on their desk and see what consequences were in store.
