The howl echoes through the air of the ruins, into the rafters of an old church, that stood decaying in a compact square.

The noise caused a creature inside to awake with a start and take off in a clumsy flurry of feathers and legs. The creature settled on the ground a little distance from its previous hiding place, looking round in confusion and mild panic. The creature was a ratty looking pigeon-type bird, with rather unkempt feathers. Several stripes of old fabric clung to its form, hanging off its wings in tatters....they were either an indication that the stupid creature had gotten caught in some old curtains...or that it was a SKinwalker.

Two features rather set it apart from another of the other feral pigeons wandering the ruins. First was the prominent patch of red features on its chest, forming what was known as a 'heart' marking that distinguished it as a Bleeding Heart Dove, not something one would expect to see in such a place. more prominent was a second red marking, though this was not nearly as delicate or natural. A large, jagged crimson mark was branded across the creature's back, the symbol of Cru's army...something that marked this particular shifter as property rather than an individual.

This mark left it fairly clear as to what they were. The dove was an escapee, someone who had run from The Army. If they had had any sense they would have made a run for it and taken their chances in the wasteland...but the Skinwalker in question was somewhat lacking in the sense department.

The bird took flight awkwardly, up onto a low roof, struggling to retain its balance. It lowered its head to watch, catching sight of the source of the noise and ruffling its feathers nervously. Dogs could eat pigeons with ease if they wanted to, and it was not the strongest of fliers.
