Who was it? They weren't hurting him...they were holding him. But who were they? Why were they...comforting? He could hear them saying something...

No. That wasn't it.

Tezu...Tezuka. Was that...his name? He couldn't remember. Maybe it was. Why couldn't he remember? It was infuriating. Finally, he forced his eyes open. Even the non-existing light wherever they were caused his eyes to feel as if they were about to explode. But it was enough agony to make him suddenly remember. It was his brother Takuya who was with him. He was Tezuka. He remembered all the men around them.

The tables. The tubes. The needles in their eyes.

What had been done to them? Why couldn't he remember anything before the lab and experiments? Why?!

"Tezuka! Calm down! Please, we're all right now...just close your eyes...you'll feel better soon. I promise."

His brother's voice penetrated his thoughts. "Ta...Taku...ya?" He felt a hand grasp his as he shut his eyes tightly, trying to block out the pain.

"Yeah, I'm here, bro...you're going to be alright. Just sleep, okay?" He didn't want to. Why would he want to go back to that impenetrable darkness? But maybe it would make some of the pain go away...
