Reivy

Rei was nervous.

He wouldn't show it and definitely wouldn't say it out loud, but it was there nonetheless, hanging over his head, taunting him even. It made him chomp down on his tongue and stare straight ahead despite wanting to look in all directions at all. He knew that would only make him look lost and jittery, so he kept his eyes forward and moved with a purpose. He was well aware of the three following behind him--too aware. He had to keep himself from wincing with every footstep he heard echoing down the hallway and nearly jumped a time too many when he heard voices coming from another nearby room. He was anxious. Screwy. He wasn't exactly in his right mind, to say it all.

Rei had never exactly been the leader type. He had all the qualities, sure: a level head, a calm mind, a courageous attitude (well, a careless one to most, but that was besides the point). But he just never wanted anything to do with others. He never had the desire to lead or take control. He never wanted to be on top of the crowd, he just wanted to be separated from it all together. He hated people. He really, truly did. In Timeless, Rei never minded the loneliness. It helped him thrive. If he never had to rely on others, then he was perfectly good. If others never relied on him, that was even better; it meant no responsibility, nothing to worry about, no lives to look over--he could focus on numero uno. Of course, as all the people started dying away, he came to the realization that he was the only one good enough for the job. He fit the description, certainly, although his selfishness had always jumped snidely into the way of him actually showing any care that a leader would, but... But now? He wasn't sure what to think, how to feel, how to act. He just kept walking, hyper aware of the three following behind him and secretly hoping they wouldn't get caught. He wouldn't know what to do if they got caught.

"We need to get out of here," he said under his breath. He wasn't sure when he'd gained the habit of talking to himself, but he didn't question it. As he came to an intersection of sorts, he finally came to a stop. He squeezed his hands together, biting on his tongue until he could feel the warm metallic taste of blood swarm through his mouth. He wrinkled his nose at the taste and let out an over-exaggerated sigh. Which way now, Sherlock? He had no idea. He had no idea where he was or where he was going or what was going on or who any of the people in this building were. He didn't know if he was in a city or a dessert or in the North Pole or even on the same planet anymore. He had no idea. And he was being watched inquizzically from behind. Pressured. And that made him more nervous than anything.

"This way," he grunted, his body moving on its own in a random direction down the right side hall. There was another interesection immediately after and now was when he started showing his anxiety. He looked back and fourth, quickly, unsure, before stomping off to the right hall again. Another intersection and he started to breathe like he was having an anthsma attack. He felt like he was going to hyperventilate. Everything felt so heavy. The weight of the world. The insecurities, the unknown, the change, the pressure. He wasn't on top of things this time. Things were on top of him, weighing him down, threatening to flatten him. Rei took a sharp left this time--slammed right into an open door this time before falling on his butt with a groan. "I don't know what I'm doing!" he moaned, putting his hands in his face and moving them. He didn't care if Nikolas and Cyrus and Ghost were watching. He just didn't care.

He moved his hands away from his face and kicked the door shut with his foot, not caring about the way-too-loud noise that echoed down the otherwise empty hallway. He needed to release this frustration somehow. As he took in slow, calming breaths to calm himself down, Rei happened to glance up at a door only a few feet away, wide open, and leading to what seemed to be a storage room. He shook his head and gingerly got to his feet, brushing off his arms before spinning his head around at the sound of storming footsteps and shouting voices. "Ugh. Shit," he cursed, narrowing his eyes at the three followers. The three familiar faces. The only three he could rely on from this point further. He looked around and, seeing it as his only chance, motioned for Nik, Cyrus, and Ghost to follow him into the lit-up storage room before shutting the door.

Rei was content in hiding away in here for the scientists to leave, but something managed to catch hiis eye. Timeless: Project Sequel, a document was titled. He raised an eyebrow and rummaged through the box, pulling the document out and scanning through it, his eyes going wider the more he read. He couldn't finish more than the first two paragraphs before he had to sit down on one of the other nearby boxes, staring out ahead of him. "You, look at this," he mumbled, handing the document over to Ghost. He didn't know what to think of it. He didn't know what to think at all.

Statix

Meanwhile, Statix was feeling pretty pissed off with the world. He'd gone through three rooms and managed to conk out two scientists who dared getting in his way--powers or no powers--before ending up where he was now. He knew he couldn't just escape. Not yet anyway. He had no idea where the others were--Reivy, Nikolas, Psycho and Sane-O. He didn't care in all honesty. If they were dead, that was just fine with him. He didn't need their help escaping, although it was obvious to him that someone was causing some chaos somewhere in the building with all the scientists running around. He couldn't take them all, not in his restrained condition, so he'd had to hide a few times now. Each time came too close for comfort.

Statix hid behind a hall as a few scientists walked calmly by, so indulged in their conversation that they totally missed his presence. "Do you think it's about time we check up on Ace One?" one female scientist asked with a coldly casual tone to her voice.

The other scientist, a man, shook his head. "Nah, the drug shouldn't be worn off yet. I'm getting hungry though. How about lunch?" He gave her a wry smirk and a suggestive nudge in the arm, to which she replied with a scoff and a turn of the head, trying her hardest not to let the man see the smile creeping up her face. It still wasn't pretty. Statix would never think of her as a pretty woman. She was just cold. Nasty.

"I guess I can make the time," the woman replied airily. The man laughed and put an arm around her as they both started off down the hall and out of sight.

Statix watched after them with a sneer. How grotesque, he thought with a scoff and a turn of his heel in the other direction. Couples were disgusting. Love in itself was disgusting. There was no time for those sorts of indulgencies when there was stuff needed to be accomplished. And anyway, were they so oblivious to the outside world that they had no idea about the chaos going on around them? He shook his head to his own thought, letting himself wander off to the question of what an Ace was. This was the first time he'd heard about anything like that. He was curious now. He looked around himself and decided to go in the only way the two scientists could of come from--an open oak door. He came to the sight of something he wasn't at all expecting when he stepped inside, having to pause in his surprise for a moment, blinking at the motionless figure on the gurney.

He cautiously walked around the figure, but calmed when he realized it was only a young person, a teenager. Of course, the person looked years younger than Statix actually was, but for the moment, they both looked the same age. "Weird," he mumbled aloud, feeling less wary and more bored. The teen had red hair and was probably in a lot of pain from the look twisted on his face. But, his hands were free, and that was enough for Statix. That automatically meant this person was useful. Statix kicked the bottom of the gurney, knocking it out of place as it wheeled into the wall on the other side of the small, square room. He strode over to the person once again, staring down at them in hopes that they'd be waking up. "Wakey-wakey."
