Daiyu, still sitting by the fire when the screams broke the air. She stood, dropping the doll. Daiyu began looking around for what had caused the screaming. It was the Chow family. She could see Jesse run from the church to the family's camp. Around her all the other inhabitants were stirring. Daiyu was scanning the shadows. Her hands were shaking.

Immediately men stood there, guns in hand but no one left the fronts of their camp. Nathan was standing outside the wagon and he and another man were yelling back and forth, speculating on what was going on.

Nathan, "Animal do you think? Scared them maybe? Attacked on of the children?" He glanced back where Melanie sat in the wagon, her arms wrapped around a frightened Helen and a squirming Patrick. "Nah, it's that brave I bet. Pissed off he got caught and back to cause trouble." The other man nodded at Nathan. "No animal would be so bold."

Nathan frowned, "One man though? I mean..." The other man spat on the ground, "Likely brought help." In the back of the wagon Melanie whimpered. Patrick wriggled from his mother's arms. "Pa, Daiyu isn't here. Did they get her too? Is it cause they were all orien...orie...you know from China? Nathan shook his head at his son, trying to keep calm.

"Patrick, Daiyu is likely alright. And I think this has nothing to do with anything but easy target. The Chow family weren't well armed." Nathan held up his rifle. "I am going to see if I can find Daiyu." Nathan looked at Melanie. The woman shook her head, "Worry about protecting your children and your wife." Her tone was full of anger and fear.

Daiyu was still standing by the fire, alone. She was frantically searching in the shadows, afraid that something might come out and attack the whole camp. She could hear Jesse shout for assistance.

Nathan heard the call as well. "I am going to help him Melanie love, he saved the children, if he needs help I am going to go." With that he began a small jog across the camp to the Chow's set up. He spotted a slim figure by the fire and hoped that he was correct in thinking it was Daiyu.

Nathan came up beside Jesse and stopped dead at the sight in front of him. "God save us...." Was all he managed as he gazed on what remained of the Chow family. He tried to compose himself. "What....or who....what did this?"
