Nathan looked to where Jesse was pointing into the shadows. There was something there but he couldn't make out what it was. As the man raised his rifle one of the things broke away from the darkness and leapt onto the roof. Nathan stared. He couldn't even bring himself to raise the gun he was holding. Wide eyes stare in astonishment. Around the camp yells went up as the movement and the thing caught attention.

The thing on the roof jumped down and was gone. Nathan followed Jesse gaze to the remaining figures but they too were gone now. Nathan looked at Jesse, "What the hell were they?" His hands were shaking. Then the thought of the children and his wife came to the forefront of his mind.

Daiyu, standing still by the fire saw the outline of the thing on the roof. Her hand went to her throat stoppingg her from crying out. There was movement in the shadows now, something or things were running. She turned and tried to see what was there but her eyes had a hard time adjusting with the firelight casting odd shapes. Her body trembled now as Daiyu became very aware that she was alone and unarmed by the fire. Around her she could hear the families stirring, calls and yells of fear and confusion filling the air. She just kept staring into the shadows.

Muttering a prayer in chinese, Daiyu backed up to be closer to the fire hoping that whatever was out there would not risk coming so close to the flame and light.
