Blade Ulenna's PortraitIt was a quiet day. The IRS Phoenix was drifting along with thousands of other ships quietly in the midst of dark space; a meeting point of specific coordinates that acted as a makeshift city of military, civilian and cargo vessels that was known simply as the Tangle. Most ships that didn't have business wandering around were in the center, like the Phoenix, and shuttle traffic buzzed between the vessels like cars through city streets.

For years now, the bridge of the Phoenix had always been a melancholy setting. The Martial Reagent Blade Ulenna rarely left his throne; the captains chair sitting on a rise that overlooked the officers station pits. His eyes were almost always fixated out the wide viewport that extended in a semi-sphere on the upper-front half of the room. Watching. It was like watching grass grow; but even that can be interesting when the grass has a purpose. Every day more ships joined the Tangle, and one day all of these ships would lead the return home in a blaze of glory.

The room had become more homely over the years. Bridge officers basically served as his closest confidants in his rule; and their stations became more personalized as tradition, rank and care for circumstance faded. Some even had pillows and a few personal effects laying around their station seats. The only important officer that wasn't present was Snow Grey, who was attending to her children down in the repurposed noble quarters deck.

The same monotonous sound of holographic controls beeping away kept steady. Slow, but steady. All there really was to do was to examine reports, after all; and Blade generally delegated that to his officers unless an important landmark was achieved, like the completion of one more fleet to add to his already enormous navy.
