The quiet sound of shuffling footsteps could be heard as a girl with blonde pigtails and a cap inched her way towards the school. She clutched one strap of her backpack slung over her shoulders with one hand and held it close to her mouth as she pressed her thumb nervously to it. Oh, why did she have to be late? Wouldn’t it have been so much nicer to have walked to school with her cousin so she’d feel less awkward? She pouted, if only she hadn’t overslept. She peeked around the side of the gates where a group of her classmates were talking. She knew most of them, at least from brief conversation. Before she left, she had always tried her hardest to make herself acquainted with them. The more friends the better, right? So she shouldn’t have had any reason to feel nervous about going up to talk to them… As long as they didn’t ask her about… that.
Her resolve rocketed when she saw Jinsu hug Sang-Min… and then Sun Hi started talking to him… and an echoing “Nooooo!” chorused in her brain. Like a ninja, she stealthily made her way towards the others, avoiding the inquisitive stares of others observing her bizarre behavior. She popped up behind Sang-Min’s right shoulder. And put a hand on it as if saying to Jinsu, “This. Is. Mine.” Back to the regular, light-hearted, routine of things before she had left school… it felt pretty good.
She picked her hand up and used it to wave at everyone, before peeking around the side of Sang-Min and saying to the boy huddled behind Hyoyeon., her eyes lit up, “Wah, Luhan! You brought Domo-kun!” She remembered how he always used to bring the plushy to school.
