Jared accepted the pills and nodded in understanding of Kathleen's instructions. He stashed them away into the breast pocket of his shirt. At Kathleen's question, he shook his head and stood up. "I won't bother you anymore," he said, smiling. "Go rest." He bent his head in farewell and ambled away, putting his free hand into a pocket. Outside of the makeshift medical room, Jared shivered slightly and went to the pile of extra... stuff waiting in a stack. He pulled out a blanket and carefully threw it around his neck.

Then, taking the steps two at a time, he headed towards the highest point he could at that moment. The top floor. Settling down by the window, he leaned against the sill and stared outside at the dark night. He took in the bright twinkling stars, the shadowy masses that were the trees, and his eyes slowly closed as sleep overcame him.
