Xander basically glared at the portal, or at least as much as he could without giving himself a headache from the light. It had popped up out of nowhere, shattering his peaceful darkness in the music room, and now his peace of mind, granted that was in very good order since his parents came home and told him and his sister what was needed from them. They had to go to a secluded place, locked away with other princes and princesses from each race, stuck there until a treaty was made. Like that was going to happen. Each race was different, and with differences comes conflict, every time, he doubted there was a way around it. But wasn’t there? The thought had crossed his mind once, just fake it, get a treaty signed, get it over with, come back home and move on with their lives. But then, there was always that fact that the treaty would be enforced and he knew that not everyone could get along, it wasn’t in anyone’s nature, no matter what race.
But he knew he had to go through, as his flat out refusal last time had been shot down with a flat out no and you’re going from his parents. His arms crossed across his chest as he waited for his sister, their father once again acting like she was his precious little glass sculpture. He wanted to roll his eyes but he knew that would get him a glare from one of his parents, and acting like a rebellious child was not what royalty should do. So he just waited, the darn portal giving him a headache from the glow it emitted, he didn’t like the idea that he had to go through it, let alone find out what was on the other side. Finally his sister had enough of father’s coaching on how to act proper and whatnot and headed to the portal, giving him a smile on the way. He knew she would like the adventure of being somewhere new; she was cooped up too much of the time.
He rose from his spot and nodded to each of his parents, none of them giving any words of farewell, his mother gave his hand a squeeze and he headed off behind Diana. His eyes shut at the light of the portal and then instead of the wooden floor of the music room he heard a soft brush and he opened his eyes a crack to see that he was standing on grass. He stole a quick glance behind him and he saw the portal close in a small flash. He growled to himself, rubbing his eyes as he was no regretting the glance and on top of that, it was daylight, he was not going to be happy later. He head rose and he saw that Diana was already running for the manor, there wasn’t time to stand admiring it, and he ran after his twin. He didn’t know who he ran past, and at the moment he didn’t care, he just wanted to get out of the light that was making his head throb.
