"Oh come no Cousin do not be so modest, I am sure your brother's men could handle anything the Luxorians threw at him." Katherine’s words came as no surprise to Gwen, the woman had always been far too bright to pull the cloth over her eyes, stifling a slight laugh, Gwendolyn tipped her glass towards her cousin with a smirk tugging on the corners of her lips “Well I’ve got to hand it to you Katherine you certainly do not miss a thing” she spoke in a calm tone. She was trying to be tactical although with this woman that was proving to be rather difficult, it felt like intuition to be wary of the Devalin’s, she supposed it had partly to with the fact that her father had drilled into them as children that they could never fully be trusted, it was one of the reasons he had not bestowed greater power onto the family like he had done with her mother’s family.

Gwen eyed the siblings over the top of her glass, what were they up too? She knew it had to be something important and she was determined to do whatever to figure it out, she was truly committed to keeping her brother, James on the thrown and hence would not let anything hinder that, she was a determined young woman caught up in the honour and duty to her namesake and she would surely give her last breath to keep James were he belonged, sat on the thrown of Avalon to rule with honour and valour over the magnificent land and its people.

“But you are right, my brothers forces could handle anything the bloody Luxorians threw at them…or any foe for that matter” Gwen was aware how the statement sounded like a warning to the Duke, she didn’t intentionally set it up that way but still he was a threat and if she could stomp out the threat by words rather than by a call to arms she would much rather do that.
