"Oh, okay." Molly said, feigning understanding. She had no idea what this kid was trying to get across, but it was weird, whatever it was. She could always ask him later. She smiled and nodded - the standard response for someone who didn't understand someone else. She was about to say something else when she heard snickering behind her. She turned around.

'Hey, beast boy! Want a dog treat?' Now that was just low. If there was anything Molly couldn't stand, it was ignorant hate. The girl stood up in front of Lacross, her fists clenched like a little kid whose toys were taken from her. "You slime." she said through clenched teeth. Anger clouded her vision and she felt reality slipping. She chose to ignore it and continued. "He didn't do anything to you!" A nurse frowned at her and began to make her way over to Molly to calm her down. Molly would have none of it. "He's not a joke. A joke... a joke..." Molly began to stutter like a stroke victim. She watched as reality slipped through her grasp and danced off to play. The nurse came over.

'Calm down, sweetie.' she said with a syrupy tone, reaching for a syringe. Molly sat down immediately and the nurse went away. Molly tried to apologize to Lacross, but all that came out was babble. "Gaius Flaminius didn't mean to lose Rome." she said. "Hannibal was just too good for him." At least this makes two of us. she thought. "Gaius Flaminius had another consul with him, you know." she finished. Then she giggled. Looking at Lacross miserably, she picked up his drawing and turned it over. On the back she drew two stick figures with no mouths. They were holding hands. Around them were laughing faces, but there was a wall around them. She smiled. She wasn't a very good artist, but she thought that communicated what she wanted. They could stand firm as long as they had each other.
