Molly watched in fascination as Lacross's life unfolded on the paper. The drawing was cute, too. She liked the style. It looked Japanese or something. Whatever it was, she had never seen it before. She picked up the paper when he was finished and smiled at it, admiring the curves and lines. She thought about Lacross's life. What had it really been like when it was not on paper? When it was real? Was it like camping? Did he even know the concept of camping or would he find it silly? There were so many questions that this strange boy evoked in her that would remain unanswered for quite some time. She wished they could break out of here, run back to the matron in the picture and have a new life.

A new life. That was the first time that she had thought of life as a good thing since the meeting. This boy was enchanting, amazing even, that he had made her forget about the meeting, Matryum, the whole nine yards of misery. That was when she remembered Svean. They had to break Svean free or something awful would happen to him, the society! Quickly, Molly grabbed a silver marker and drew a stick figure with silver hair. She drew him hog-tied. "Break the thermometer, what happens? The mercury runs all over the floor." she said nonsensically.

Break: Break-out. Mercury: Silver. It was then that she realized that everything she said had meaning. Every weird thing that came out of her mouth, every bit of nonsense... wasn't nonsense. It all made sense in a crazy, riddly way. She tried desperately to communicate this to Lacross. "The pieces of the puzzle don't fit because they're pieces to a different puzzle!" she nearly shouted.
