Ashley sat quietly on the floor in the corner of the lunch room, one knee up against her chest, game-boy in both hands. She wore an over-sized black t-shirt and old looking sweatpants, and sat almost perfectly still, aside from the slight movement of her thumbs and a steady, nervous breathing. She kept her head down slightly, letting her long hair drape slightly over her eyes to hide her face from the intimidating group of students that sat in front of her, enjoying their lunch.
Being a freshman, and having just drove in this morning, Ashley didn't know anyone, and defaulted to her reclusive nature with the hopes that she would be able to ignore the huge crowd of strangers she was supposed to be a part of. Despite her desire to escape from reality, Ashley couldn't help but keep glancing up every couple of minutes with her eyes.
Hearing the group next to her burst into laughter at someone's apparently humorous comment, Ashley looked up again, and was about to look down again when she spotted a face she thought she recognized. After a few moment of staring, Ashley realized it must be that Cara girl who was supposed to be her roommate or something. Ashley had only seen a picture but figured it was probably her.
Ashley had never had a room-mate before and kind of disliked the thought of it... ever since she found out the boarding school her aunt was sending her to made her share a room. After a few more moments, she sighed, getting up slowly, and decided she probably ought to meet her at least, considering she had to live with her and all.
Silently she walked over and sat down across the table from Cara and the other girl she was talking too. She wanted to say something, but wasn't sure what, and ended up just focusing back down on her game-boy and letting her hair drape back down once again over her face.
