Jay laughed, there was no way Lacey would avoid coming to his room just because of Mike and they both knew it. She enjoyed listening to him play guitar way too much to cut out seeing him in his room all together. Besides, he assumed Mike wouldn’t even be around that much; he seemed the type to be always hanging out with his jock friends.

When she mentioned that she liked to hangout on the patio anyway, he smiled softly, he knew she preferred writing out in the dark. They had a boatload of good memories hanging outside in the dark together, sharing memories and whatnot. Something about the dark always made you feel like opening up.

The moment Lacey mentioned leaving though, it took less than a second for him to jump up from his seat. “I thought you’d never ask,” he replied grinning, indoors were never his thing and he found the canteen to be, stuffy. Grabbing his now almost empty packet of chips with one hand, he slung his other arm over Lacey’s shoulders already pulling her towards the exit. “Besides, you were the one who invited me to the canteen,” he said sarcastically rolling his eyes in good humor as they neared the exit.

The two of them reached the door to get out of the canteen at about the same time as Mike and Dehlilah. Jay gave a small sympathetic smile to Mike, knowing that he was going to have hell to pay. He didn’t say anything to either of them though as he knew Lacey wouldn’t want to stick around and talk to Mike. Instead, he used to arm he still had planted of her shoulders to lead her away from the two on them.

He continued leading her down a couple of corridors until they came across the stair he had been lounging on earlier. He smiled when he discovered the stairs were still bathed in the same sunlight as before. Finally releasing Lacey, he spread himself out across the stairs, stretching his legs. He then smiled up at Lacey and patted the spot next to him, motioning for her to join him. He found himself staring at her for longer than he should have though. He couldn't help admiring how gorgeous she looked in the sunlight.
