Isis jumped up when Leon approached with Akitla. So she was safe! What a relief! Leon didn't seem all that happy... But Isis was pleased that both he and Akitla had returned safely.

Take care of her please.... see how extreme her wounds are... Leon said, laying down. Akitla was looking pretty bad... Isis almost started looking around for someone to do it instead of her, but she felt terrible about leaving Akitla before and even worse after she caught herself about to look around for relief from nursing duty.

I understand. Isis responded. She wasn't good at nursing people back to health, but she could probably at least keep Akitla from feeling too much pain... at least until it was possible for someone to take her to town. Isis figured she'd probably end up doing that. She wasn't sure who was friends with Akitla-- maybe one of them would do it instead of Isis? Don't think so selfishly, She admonished herself. Shifting to her human form, Isis gingerly took Akitla from Leon and brought her into the den. The others were milling around inside-- Isis didn't know where Narissa was, but she doubted the proud Beta was very happy with this development.

Deciding that bringing Akitla over to the overly excitable pups was a bad idea, Isis picked a spot far away from them. There wasn't anything comfortable on the ground there and no one was helping her at the moment... I guess if I finish assessing her injuries quickly, then I can move her somewhere more comfortable...? Isis decided.

Lying Akitla on the floor, Isis assessed her injuries, but wasn't 100% sure what was wrong. ...Well, the bone looks broken... what am I, a doctor? She shook her head. If I set it, she might start screaming. Maybe I should get her something to bite on?...what about her knee? It doesn't look like it's broken, but it sure does look like it's swelling up pretty bad. Maybe I should start reading about medicine... Focus, Isis. Akitla's kind of in trouble here. The process is RICE-- Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation... or was that just for sprains? Realizing that Akitla probably could answer these questions if she vocalized them, Isis gazed at her fallen packmate. She didn't really know how to address someone who was injured. Maybe I'll forgo asking if she's okay. Isis thought. "Akitla, how much pain are you feeling right now? I think your arm is broken and I want to set it. But it'll hurt a lot, especially if your arm is actually broken. Your knee is swelling up and I don't know what the cause is-- err, well, I know what the cause is, but I don't know if it's broken... I want to compress it in ice... what do you think?" Curious, Isis waited for Akitla's response.
