Charlie raised his eyebrow at the Charlie Brown bit. At her comment on no more fighting, he was going to comment that he would try so long as she didn't make him try to kick any footballs, but decided against it. Perhaps it would be best to keep his trap shut for a little bit. He had stirred up enough anger to satisfy him for a little while. He was far from the most popular person in the house, but such was the goal.
Charlie turned his head when the dress guy mumbled something. He didn't catch it, but he always hated mumblers. If you had something to say, say it. Don't mumble about it. A mumbling, shoe-less boy in a dress... Guy must have been a lady killer... He reminded him a little of the serial killer in 'Silence of the Lambs.' He could picture this dress boy petting a little dog with make-up on.
What the old english matron said about going back to the table, he assumed was for dressboy and not for him. "Righty-o then. Ima be outside on the steps."
Charlie did a complex series of movements consisting of shuffling his plate to his other hand and the generous use of his foot in order to wedge the door open again without having to put the plate down, in hindsight, he could have just put the plate down and then open the door, but who wanted to do that?
Once the cool night air caressed his skin, Charlie let out a content sigh. It took way too long for him to get out of that damn place then it should have. Plopping down on the stairs he began to eat while watching the stairs.
