With zero resistance he pushed a ring into the stone pedestal like one would push a leaf under water. When he removed his finger the stone was solid again and the ring was still entirely buried in the stone.

He took a couple steps back so everyone could examine his work, after all the more resources at the group's disposal the better. These things can't call to yeh through stone." This wasn't something Gunvald could sense himself, more of a reassurance that the stone gave him. Granted there was no claim of total silence, there was a reassurance of some very good muffling. After all, Earth does not lie or exaggerate...but it's prone to speaking very literally.
