Instead of Eddie, Saein found Ann and Minn. Minn waved her over, told her she had made food (which was no surprise) and introduced her to Ann. Saein was very tired, but awake enough to see the humor in that. “Hi, I’m Saein. Gosh, who would have thought I’d meet another firni on this ship!”

Ann stifled a giggle. She didn’t want Minn to think they were making fun of her. Saein gave her a hug, and suddenly she caught a glimpse of an angelic and impossibly attractive pink creature on the other side of the table. Her instinctive response was to try to hide in Saein’s arms, but that only made her heart race even more. Once it occurred to her what was happening, she pushed Saein away. Keep those feelings to yourself, will you? she thought. Ann blushed and coughed awkwardly.

“You said you made food?” Saein tried to provide a distraction.

Eddie joining them was probably a better distraction from the awkward moment. Ann shyly corrected him when he greeted her as “other”: “Ann.”
