Scarlett crumpled the small cupcake cup and threw it across the short room and into the garbage can. “My parents taught me otherwise,” she said, smiling briefly, in reply to Madison’s comment. In an attempt at attaining a more comfortable position, Scarlett placed her elbow at the top of the couch and supported her head with the palm of her hand, her leg still crossed over the other. “They’re such normal names,” she said nonchalantly. “I once knew an Olivia in high school- didn’t make it passed eleventh grade before she got ran over by a car driven by her 12 year old brother... But on a brighter note, it’ll be enjoyable coming up with new nicknames,” With a perfectly fake, innocent smile, Scarlett looked towards Roman, aware of the minimal interaction they had made since Madison and Jason’s arrival, “Hey, Ally boy?”

Scarlett casually glanced at her watch again. Tardiness was a bit of a pet peeve of hers, and plus, missing the plane wasn’t an option. There was now only fifteen minutes remaining until they were advised to leave and the game would be put into play. Scarlett smoothed her dress and grabbed the wallet-sized, cross-body purse that came with her outfit before rising from the couch; and with that, her entire demeanor changed. No longer was she the selfish, conceited- maybe even childish- woman she was just second ago. Now she was the delicate and polished Olivia who just about anyone could love if they fancied being showered with affection and kindness: The complete opposite of Scarlett.

The new Scarlett made her way to the other end of the table, with a slight bounce to her step, where the passports and place tickets were. She then slid her and Roman’s confidential’s into her clutch, careful not to crumple any of the corners. “I can’t wait to see our new house!” Olivia wrapped both of her dainty hands around one of Roman’s and smiled up at him with what appeared to be love and eager excitement.

The real Scarlett hoped for an amusing reaction.
