"Ok. I'll be back in a few minutes." I wanted to give her a physical promise, but it was hardly the time and place. I grabbed the Ka-Bar I kept under my seat, and ran to the other car. Seeing the only person in the car being the driver, I Tried to open the door, but it was locked. Smashing the window with the butt of my knife, I reached inside and opened the door. "Hey buddy, you O.K.?" I shook the body slumped over the wheel. seeing it was a female I hesitated for the next part., "Hey, girl, can you hear me?" I say loudly punching her in the shoulder enough to make most people yell. She did not flinch. I checked for signs of concussion, and found bruises behind her ears. Not only did she have a concussion, but pressure was building up in her head. "Crap." My knife cuts the seat belt away from her effortlessly, and pull her into the rain. Carrying her to the van, I see Ruby walking toward me. "What are you doing out here! I told you to stay in the Van, you might have a concussion! Get back in the van now!" I get her and the other girl out of the rain, wishing that the gas station was not closed. I lie the girl on her side on a seat, and dig in the back of the van for a few blankets I kept back there for camping trips. I put one on the girl, then wrapped the other around Ruby and myself, pulling her close. "I don't want anything to happen to you." I say, barely more than a whisper into her hair. "I'm sorry I yelled. I was worried."
