He walked around, marvelling that the ground seemed so stable and smooth. He could feel the faint mist-spray of the waterfalls, cascading like liquid light down through the city. On the air he could catch the faint scent of copper, of burnt coal and other industrial scents, but the water seemed remarkably pure for such a large city.

He looked back at the marvellous, strange woman who had accompanied him to this Paradise, this World Beyond Worlds. He'd read Johnathan Swift and some other fantastic tales, but even that couldn't compare with this.

There was something oddly invigorating and strangely childlike about the experience he had shared with this laughing woman. He found himself reassessing her through new, haunted eyes. He still hardly knew her. Could it really have been less than an hour? It felt like a lifetime, already.

Holding her gaze, he found himself wondering which mystery fired his passion more. This city, or Her.

"First time for everything." He found himself saying, but for once the double entendre wasn't the first thing on his mind. "Well, let's go find out where the hell we are. Maybe they have something to drink. I think after that we could both do with some ale, or something stronger."

He began to wander slowly, looking for people, tavern signs, or shops. As much as he was keen to discover this great place, he also felt like he couldn't do it alone. Unspoken, he knew that he and Genny were in this together, now.
