Golden awakens, startled by a bead of sweat that has fallen from her brow. Confused she stands, shaking sand and sweat from her shimmering fur. Golden growls at the sand and the sun—this is nothing like she has ever experienced before.

Golden and her pack mates dwell in a thick tropical forest where the trees grow to mountainous sizes and the sun is rarely seen. She was not even aware of the concept of sand until now. She tries licking it finding it dry and hot in her mouth. It sticks to her tongue and makes her pant with thirst. At least she blends in this arid place. On her home world her color was always a nuisance. She always stood out to much and prey could see her golden coat from afar. It was her packs curse and she was often bullied because of it.

Thinking of her pack she whined, worried about where they could be. They may not always treat her fairly but they were her only family and she had lived with them her entire life. Her eyes start to burn from the bright sun but she can make out what she mistakes for a large tree on the horizon. It is thinner and blacker than any tree she had ever seen but a strange tree was better than this sand and smouldering sun.

As is normal for her race she set off on four legs. Morphings tend to only take on their human shape while performing certain tasks. With the sun burning her back she moved as fast as she could bear, finding that the pads of her feet were quickly becoming covered in blisters from the heat. Scared and alone she traveled towards the tower, eager to find shade and be reunited with her pack.
