He was close enough to hear the calls from his brother but too far to understand him. He could gather what was going on behind him; the man had awakened and they were conversing, but the draw from the tower was too strong now. He could feel it pulling at his very essence. The spire beckoned to him, and he couldn't refuse it.

He could feel his will sinking into the beckoning of tower. It had his very soul in a vice grip and it refused to release it. Roman was no more than 200 yards now and he could now make out the creatures at the bottom of the tower. They actually weren't creatures but machines. Spider like machines patrolling the grounds that if he were to be face to face with, would tower over him.
