He was fast. She figured because he was taller, but she wasn't going to let herself fall behind. She kept her steps quick and right on his heels. She listened as his thoughts processed what she told him. He caught on fast, knowing that she was reading his lips. It was hard to communicate without vision...and even though she could be in peoples heads that didn't always help.

Thoughts were erratic. They moved from one stream of information to another and rarely met what a person was actually saying. They rarely lined up right, because once words were falling out of a persons mouth their thoughts were moving on to something else.

Her chest tightened painfully as he went over the times that her presence would be dangers. Not being able to hear...it was a huge handicap. She was reminded of waking up int he lab...with seemingly no idea what had been going on around her. But as his thoughts kept moving, a guilty smile appeared on her face. He was quick.

"I can hear your thoughts," she answered, louder than she meant to given the expression on her face that would have normally belonged to a low, embarrassed murmur. She hated talking. With a passion. It didn't help that she knew her voice didn't sound right--she could tell from his thoughts on it. So she tried to enunciate and speak slowly. She wished she could sign--but she highly doubted he would understand it.

She stopped just behind him. Storm. His name was Storm. It fit, she thought. He looked like a Storm. She followed his lead in looking around. She had good eyesight, but she'd gotten too comfortable for a girl who just barely escaped with her life. She was reminded suddenly of how wrong the situation around them was. There should be people.

As the short mention of food filtered across his mind, her stomach gave an uncomfortable lurch. She'd had her last meal taken away from her for bad behavior the night before...she hadn't eaten anything in more hours than she could count. Shelter sounded like a good idea too...something to close off the sky. It would kill her after all this open air but...they weren't the only ones that could fly.

She agreed with him though...any long term hiding wouldn't be good. They needed to keep moving. Hopefully they could find some place much less creepy than where they currently were.

She dropped her eyes to his mouth the moment she realized he was talking again, and followed his words instead of his thoughts. She nodded quickly with what he said and looked down at her bare feet. She needed shoes too. She'd scraped them pretty good on the branches and glass that covering them would probably do some good.

And then he was moving again, an she walked at a slow sprint to keep up with him. "Thank you," she whispered. "For not leaving me behind."

For someone who had trust issues the way she did...she never thought she'd be happy to have company.
