Sighing Dan dropped the pack on the coffee table before the flowered couch and slid his trench off his shoulders and draped it over the back of the black Lazy-boy chair and stretched, grimacing when tight muscles pulled and bones popped. "Damn...a hot soak would feel wonderful. If there was any hot water." he muttered as he headed for the bathroom and the large distilled water jugs he had found while scavenging the other apartments. Snagging one and several hand towels he headed back out into to the living room of the apartment he had snagged as his and went to work in cleaning off his trench and the back pack.

Once that was done, he grabbed the pack and headed into the kitchen and began to unload the cans of food and bottles of water. The cans he put with the other cans of food and the water on the other counter with the other bottles. Stepping back he snagged a bottle of water, two cans of Spaghetti O's and a can of Peach's before heading to the small propane cooking stove he had found, grabbing the can opener and a pan. Opened both cans dumped them in the pan and set them on the small stove before turning it on. He sat back on a milk crate and opened the water took a swig of it and closed it as he reached out and stirred the Spaghetti O's. Several minutes later a eat his fill than cleaned the pan with some of the distilled water and ate his peach's before he headed for bed, only after making sure that the window was closed and the door into the apartment was still locked and blocked by the heavy bookcase and china cabinet. Soon silence filled the apartment as Dan slept in the boarded off bedroom.
