Opening a can labeled tomato soup and pouring it into a bowl, Savannah took a seat on the ground near Dan. She didn't bother heating it up. Her brothers had always ridiculed her for her eating habits, but even with her choice of food excruciatingly slim, she didn't change anything. Vannah had eaten cold tomato soup for as long as she could remember. It gave her comfort and reminded her of her family.

"Sometimes, a day can be made simply by the company of another." She smiled, driving a spoonful of soup into her mouth. "I do appreciate everything immensely though. I'll be out of your hair as soon as things clear up outside."

Savannah stood and walked to place her bowl in the sink. She grabbed her bag from the window and pulled a pair of jeans and a shirt out. "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to change." A small piece of her thanked her mother graciously for instilling manners into herself and her siblings. They had gotten her through high school, college, and even played a role in her life now that the world crumbled around her.
